WTB Cobra 427 S/C Wanted
I am looking for a Cobra 427 S/C. My top choice is Superformance but will consider other quality replicas (ERA, Contemporary etc.) that fit “must haves”. I’m located in Bakersfield CA and prefer not to ship but will travel
Budget up to $90k asking price. Must haves: Independent rear suspension Ford drivetrain 425+ HP Manual transmission 90-92" wheelbase True knock-off wheels Preferred: High HP small block 2013 SPF03XXX with wider driver footwell and drop out Trans mount 15” wheels Dual disc clutch Titled as 1975 or older or have SB100 to be smog exempt in CA. Driver quality with flaws in paint OK. |
Your list and budget seem like you will be able to find something.
Good luck. John |

This is a duplicate post. You were pointed to Cobra Country in your first.

Not sure you will find much titled as a 1975.

I thought all SPF cars used a welded-in transmission cross-member.
I seem to recall a considerable effort on the part of SPF to discourage owners from replacing the welded-in cross member with a bolt-in equivalent a couple of years ago. Something about structural integrity and the unhappy potential for death and dismemberment sort of events, if I recall … |

I have a nice MK III in Sunset Red with a Ford Racing 430 HP 392 crate motor, it will require SB100 process as Bill indicated. |

Honestly, pulling the trans without the drop-out is not a big deal; remove the seats (8 bolts) and the tunnel (a dozen or so screws and some sealant) and you can remove the transmission and access the bellhousing/clutch. |
Uhhhh, couldn't you just use a Sawz-All to remove the cross member and then put it back with some Gorilla Tape?:JEKYLHYDE
