First observation is that the cars with a CSX in front get a premium

Only one has an aluminum body @ $407k. Aluminum CSX continuations remain relatively rare and apparently the market values them. Next best thing to an original?

I wonder how much the CSX 3xxx vin on this car is valued vs the usual CSX 4000/6000. Not fundamentally a different car. Still a continuation. Although some call these original series labeled cars as “completion” cars. Probably a more expensive royalty to Shelby American for the privilege.

Remind me that when it is time to sell my cobra that I should take it to Barret Jackson, along with a case of bourbon and beer to pass around just before bidding starts....
Buzz, Mark IV, jolsen42 and 3 others like this.

Remember that the final prices shown include a 10% buyer's premium and an 8% sellers fee. So, the seller sees 83.6% of the final price. Thus, for the $407K car the seller would receive $340.4K, a discount of $66.6K. Not to mention additional selling costs like transport, insurance, travel (if attending), etc.

Also, consider that all BJ cars must be offered at no reserve. So, you have no guarantee of getting the price you might expect.

Note the CSX 7000 that sold for $110K, $92K to the seller. Doesn't compare particularly well to other CSX 7000 sales elsewhere. Seller probably expected more.

The prices shown include the 10% buyer's commission.

I always base yields on the hammer price. For a hammer price of 10,000:

Buyer pays 11000 (+10%, 1.1xHammer)

Seller gets 9200 (-8%, .92xHammer)

I can attest to the no reserve. I wanted reserve on my GT and they were doing it for the last time, and I traded no reserve for extremely good placement, still only got about 2/3 of their estimate.

I too would have thought CSX7010 would have gotten more. It's a pretty good deal, but the paint job might have turned people off - for 110K I could get it repainted and still be happy.

Isn't that the group of cars that were built by McClusky, et al? As I recall Shelby American does not participate in those. It's purely "the foundation".

Kinda wish I had but (1) the wife wouldn't go anywhere with me and (2) I didn't have enough garage space to store it. A Cobra is still among the cars I would consider. I'm one-eyed but without an obnoxious B-pillar on the passenger side I could see just fine.

Not from an accident. My right eye is a "lazy eye". I only see from it if I "turn it on". So I have to turn my head quite a ways to the right to use my left eye to see out of the right hand rear view mirror. I have no depth perception which was quite a shock to the head instructor at the first Bondurant racing class I took... Driving on a race track is 100x easier than a street since everyone is predictable and doesn't speed up in the right lane when you're trying to pass and brake points are marked...

PS. I'm still unrestricted (no corrective lenses) on my drivers license even though I wear glasses all the time... My left eye is good enough.

All of this conspired to make the Ford GT a very difficult car to drive in city traffic.
