				 Suitable Engine Supplier for a Superformance MkIII Cobra build 
 G'Day All
 I'm looking for advise on a suitable supplier of a 427 big block, preferably side oiler FE with aluminium medium riser Edelbrock heads and 8 stack FI to be fitted in my upcoming Superformance MkIII Cobra.
 
 I'm based in Melbourne, Oz and looking to this forum for some learned advise on who might be a good, reputable, supplier. So far in my search I have shortlisted the following.
 
 Prestige Motorsports
 FE Specialties
 Lykins Motorsports
 
 I'm also interested in the Shelby Engines Co. 'all alloy' 427 FE they can  supply which I believe is the engine of choice for their CSX continuation cars.
 
 Any thoughts, advise, recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

 You can't go wrong with Lykins Motorsports. Brent is an honest standup guy who meticulously builds custom engines. As an added bonus your engine build will likely be chronicled in a series of videos on his YouTube channel.
 My 289, period correct, engine has some 16 or so videos detailing the build. All adding to the value of the build and its provenance. Part of my build record documentation.
 
 The problem is that Brent is very busy and may not have room to take on another build.

 IMO, if a person goes with an alloy block, your weight distribution will get jacked up. From cloudy memory? I think the factory cars weight distribution was 49/51 front to rear with a tank of gas. 
 Just my 2C.

 |  Fair point - I guess that if going for Al engine you would have to go for Aluminium Diff carrier and rear hubs and Titanium drive shafts to balance things out. Might be expensive but think of how much weight one would save. Also with lighter unsprung weight and even sprung weight one could go for lighter coil springs so more weight savings, also smaller and  lighter brake disks, then lighter chassis and carbon fiber body and CF prop shaft , and narrower wheels and tyres - next thing is the car will only weigh <1500 lbs - mmmmmm - sounds better and better. Only $$$$$$ to stop one going down that rabbit hole.    If I had the money and time to spare its a rabbit hole I would very gladly head down. But then again I might rather build a Lotus 23 and keep my Cobra as is. At 74 time is running out for such indulgences. Damn			 Last edited by Snake2998; 02-26-2024 at 03:01 AM..

 |  I ran an aluminum 427W in both 1855 and 2584.  There were no issues with weight balance, matter of fact it worked really well by planting more weight on the rear.  Just an FYI, I had 65k miles between the two cars, ran 150 mph multiple times.  I know 4 others running 427W aluminum motors, there are no problems.
