How much do you want to bet, that new gen Porsche is his?? He was just waiting till the Cobra's, ABS, Traction Control, and whatever else that Porsche has to save his ass again ;)

mrmustang 09-27-2024 02:03 AM

More money than brains, however, it was not an original Cobra, so I'm good with it.

His neighbors love his new Cobra!!!

Unique427 09-27-2024 12:09 PM

Even Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles saw that coming.

Short wheelbase car .... CHECK
Inexperienced Cobra driver ... CHECK
Heavy on the throttle off the truck .... CHECK
Cold tires .... CHECK
Wet roads .... CHECK
Forgot brain in house .... CHECK

Consider that as a rehearsal when he leaves his first car show.

Buzz 09-27-2024 12:55 PM

Lol - yep! Trailing throttle oversteer did him in as he tried to hammer it right through 1st gear and lifted off hard for the slight bend in the road. He should've grabbed 2nd and kept his right foot in it while feeding in some opposite lock as he drifted tail-out through the sweeper.

That way he would've had to lift off hard in second gear further down the road and he would've still lost it and balled-up the car; but at least it would've been off camera and hopefully out of sight of the laughing delivery guys.

patrickt 09-27-2024 01:07 PM

He should have pushed it off the truck.

Backdraft1725 09-27-2024 01:24 PM

I'm wondering if he didn't it just for the clicks. Internet people are funny like that.

Actually Antonio is a pretty good guy, a little wacky at times but a good guy.

Anyone know what car csx 4000/6000?

Harpoon PV2 09-27-2024 10:03 PM

Back when ESPN showed a lot of vintage races. They showed one of the first 427s driven by Dick Thompson, The Flying Dentist. He spun it on three different occasions in the race, still came in 5th! If a guy like Dick can spin the 427, the rest of us should think 3 or 4 times before mashing the Go Fast peddle! Cheers, Dennis

CompFi 09-28-2024 02:35 PM

Dennis - any details on that particular race? Year? Venue?

Maybe we could find some footage on YouTube.

twobjshelbys 09-28-2024 05:02 PM

There were more than a few ford gts that suffered from the same

Sorry, I looked and looked, no joy! I would think it is out there some where. Maybe ESPN has not put all their older content online yet? Cheers, Dennis

Here you go. It was the 1965 Bridgehampton 500:

Dr. Dick Thompson with co-driver Skip Scott in the Essex Wire 427.

The only cobra spin out I saw was with Scott at the wheel, not Thompson. I love watching this old races.

"...the rest of us should think 3 or 4 times before mashing the Go Fast peddle! "

Backing off the throttle (quickly) is what usually causes a spin like that. These cars can have bad trailing-throttle oversteer, especially in a lower gear, if you're not careful.
