Lotsa great tunes, one of my favorites is Welcome "To The Jungle"- GNR

casaleenie 12-07-2002 02:13 PM

Roscoe,

I downloaded Florence Foster Jenkins (adeles laughing) or something like that. You're joking, right?
A gut shot panther is being too polite....

Glad I didn't run out and buy the album

casaleenie 12-07-2002 02:20 PM

Roscoe,

If you love Jenkins, you'll love Mrs. Millers - It's a hard days night

W2zero 12-07-2002 02:27 PM

Another favorite of mine is the American Garage recording by Pat Metheny group. The whole album is travelling with the foot to the wood. For gutbucket blues I like Johnny Winter, his brother ain't bad neither.

bnewell 12-07-2002 04:06 PM

Most definately anything by Metallica or Dokken. A little Motley Crew ain't bad either:) :)

An interesting thing about this thread, most of the songs are oldies. Not that it's a bad thing, kids now days don't know what good music is. Somebody here added Jimmy Thackery. Most excellent. I'll add Smokin' Joe Kubeck to the electric blues list. Also how about Statesboro Blues by the Almann Brothers. Can't forget Buddy Guy either.

"l.a. woman"-the doors (& "roadhouse blues"...keep your eyes on the road, your hands upon the wheel)

stush 12-07-2002 04:53 PM

"Born to Run" Springsteen
"Smoke'in" Boston
"Bad to the Bone" George Thorogood and the Destroyers
"Ramblin Man" Allman Brothers
"Whipping Pos" Allman Brothers
"Old Time Rock & Roll" Bob Seeger

just to name a few of the top of my head.

I Cann't Drive 55 by Sammy Hagar

super38 12-07-2002 04:59 PM

I can't drive 55, Mas Tequila: Sammy Hagar
Hot for teacher: Van Halen
Party on the patio: ZZ Top

FakeSnaks~~ 12-07-2002 05:16 PM

Johnny Cash "One piece at a time"

Mark IV 12-07-2002 06:43 PM

Songzzzz...

"Born to Run" Springstein and "the big man"

"Also Sparch Zarathustra" (Thus spoke Zarathrustra)

"Paradise by the dashboard light" Meatloaf

"Autobahn" Kraftwerk

"Ride of the Valkryres" some dude named Waqner

"Hey little Cobra" Ripchords-Written by Cobra owner Carol Conner (not "O'Conner) also of "Rocky" theme

"Return of the Fire Witch" King Crimson....when was the last time you heard that on the radio

"My Generation" Who...and also most all of Tommy. Damn, I am pissed of that the only British Invasion member to ever call me and buy parts from my business was "Ox", John Entwhistle, and he did the John Belushi thing and offed himself with a bad heart and cocaine.

A whole lotta stuff that I can hum but couldn't tell you the name, artist or whatever if my life depended upon it.....

A really good thread that allows us to connect the cars that gave us woodies with the songs we danced to with the girls that also gave us wood (not that we could use it....but WOULD that we could use WOOD.)

Get outta Denver---- Bob Seger

Sizzler 12-08-2002 08:58 AM

All my Life

Foo Fighters

If the question is a song that makes you speed up, not just a favorite song for driving.

highplainscobra 12-10-2002 06:30 PM

In response to the fellow Blues enthuseist..specific Jimmy Thackery that gets the accelerator mashed is "Trouble man" and "Bullfrog Blues". Smokin Joe works well & gets it going, as well as Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Eric C., Howlin' Wolf (Killin' Floor), Joe Satriani, Little Feat (Texas Twister), Blue Steel.

I almost forgot one of my favorites - probably because the tape is in the wife's Grand Cherokee - Iron City Houserockers - anything they put out would surely get me in trouble with Johnny Law in a hurry.

Street Fightin' Man - Rolling Stones
Street Fightin' Man - Rod Stewart

Johnny B. Goode - Johnny Winter

Brand New Car - Rolling Stones:
"Jack her up baby, gotta open the hood
I'm gonna check if her oil smells good,
Mm-mmm, smells like caviar."

bwana50 12-11-2002 02:12 PM

(Ironically...) "Slow Ride", by Foghat
"Don't Bring Me Down", by ELO
"Magic Carpet Ride", by Steppenwolf
"Speed Racer" theme, by Sponge
Most any AC/DC song

casaleenie 12-11-2002 05:20 PM

Highplainscobra,

Found 'em. Pittsburg band....Iron City Houserockers

I see what you mean...

RallySnake 12-11-2002 06:08 PM

"Bad to the Bone" Bob Seger, personal favorite. Ooops, I meant George Thorogood!

Also, for new stuff, try the latest from the Offspring. Their stuff is hard edged rock with rough language. Don't play it with kids around. Perfect for a nasty Cobra! :D
