Anybody know a program or a download so I can change my little hand/index finger mouse pointer to a middle finger?
|
Doesn't a TKOII have different ratios than a standard TKO? BTW, if it matters what gear you're in, you don't have enough horsepower! Jamo, if you find that program, I sure would like it too.

Jamo
Do a Google search "Naughty Mouse Pointers" many to choose from, but do they have any hidden code?

My buddy has a Nash (same as Richmond) in a Nova with 750 hp. Runs 9.90's, power shifts it with 14" slicks all day long. Has had it for over 10 years. kountzecobra: Only 5th. gear is different between the TKO and TKOII. TKO is .68 TKOII is .83 TKOII also has a stronger 3rd. gear. Gary: My ERA manual doesn't say anything about it being off center. They do offer the correct shift linkage and handle. Richmond offers a race version with straight cut gears, and a street version with angle cut gears. Noise is only a problem with the race version which is not reccomended for street use. |
JUST SHORT SHIFT IT IN FIRST GEAR AND NAIL IT IN SECOND AND THEN HOLD ON

contact Bob Kalio at Midstates Classics. He has a blank dished knob.
|
Turk, your knob goes out tomorrow. I had to find just the right box. Never thought I'd be involved in a knob job with a Turk! Life is full of surprises! If it isn't exactly what you had in mind, keep it anyway, I don't need it. I do want that Cavalier wiper, tho...

Mustangs unlimited page 79 part # TRA656101. Exactly what you are looking for. Its a 5 speed conversion knob. Looks exactly like the black dished knob with the chrome bottom and the 5 speed pattern engraved into it. It aaalso comes with 2 thread sizes! www.mustangs unlimited.com

Hi Turk,
have you considered the T56 6 speed? With a 2.66 or 2.97 first gear it's a bit more useful than the tremec TKO. The 0.5 or 0.62 ratio 6th you would get some pretty good gas milage out of that 427. It has the same torque rating and uses the same input/output shaft splines as the TKO. Salee Chevrolet sells one that bolts up to a standard patern bellhousing so it would be easy to adapt up. Plus with your GM connections you should be able to get one at the right price. http://www.sallee-chevrolet.com/BorgWarner/t56pics.html The numbers for a 3.45 rear end look pretty good with this box. Your B/B with it's superior low down torque would be better than my LS1 at 3.45. I plan on going to 3.9 I can machine up a nice Alloy knob for you as well. http://cobra.terraworld.net/forums/a...&postid=186126 Cheers |
3, 4, 5 , 6....
Watch out for the T56, it does NOT have a speedo gear drive. The applications that use this have electronic speedos.
One of my guys put this in his '69 Camaro and it cost him a ton to have a speedo that worked. Cheaper just to put a Cobra body on a high mile Viper. You can find them for just a couple of hundred dollars around here.................. Rick |
Thanks a bunch guys
Mike,
I am pretty well committed to the TKO II by now. frame has been modified to accept one rather than a Toplader. Wheteher I will be happy with it or not remains to be seen. I am not a fan of shifting a bunches of times. A 6 speed would have driven me crazy, even if it might have yielded a better performing car and better gas mileage. Steve, Thanks. I found the knob on the mustangs Unlimited website. If the one being donated doesn't do it, that will be my next choice, since it alredy has the pattern engraved on it. Thanks guys. Only on Club Cobra you can ask for a knob and get a full blown lesson on transmissions. If I had asked for what is the best transmission, this thread could have gone forever. It is appreciated. Just found this thread.
Happy to see such a reasonable attitude towards number of gears. I do think the 5-speed will be excessive. My personable opinion only, but I think you should have gone with a top-loader (originality factor) with a GearVendors Overdrive unit attached. This would have given you an overdrive, kept the transmission choice 'original' in keeping with the car, and given you an 8 speed transimission (and how many here have that?). My opinion only. Quote:
Glad to see you agree with me that the replicas are indeed different than the originals. Whether you say 'better quality' or I say 'that's the way it actually was', doesn't matter, what matters is that they are demonstrably(sp?) and noticeably different. Works for me. What is your CSX2xxx number? |
Jeb, I would be surprised if a Gear Vendors unit would fit between a top loader and the rear end. Was that available on the "Original CSX" cars? Which trans does your car have?

Part #3D6000
It just replaces the tailshaft, doesn't add on to length. Simple, clean, functional. Sorta reminds you of the original Cobra before all the geegaws and thingamabobs got slathered on. From their site: DRAG RACING/ROAD RACING with 4-SPEED MANUALS GEAR VENDORS makes a kit to fit the Ford Top Loader and Jerico transmissions. The .78 to 1 ratio gives 28% more top end to the vehicle numerically and can be used in a variety of ways for the racer. Since the GEAR VENDORS can be shifted without clutching, it is decidedly faster when compared to a conventional shift. Imagine coming out of a corner or racing down a dragstrip where a foot or two could be very valuable and you have the option to hit a .78 multiplier under full throttle. Some drag racers have found that using the overdrive version (popular in road racing) of the Top Loader with the ability to clutchless gearsplit the wide ratios makes for a great 5 or 6-speed. |
Jeb
My MGC, had that kind of setup. Four on the floor and an electric stalk switch that could be engaged for 3rd over and 4th over, very slick, gave me 6 speeds. Unit would not engage in 1st or 2nd.

Austin Healey 3000,,,same setup but I got the button on the dash. You can "jump out" the switch on the trans to get OD in 1st or 2nd, but trans oil pressure will be low and the "cone clutch" OD might slip and burn under heavy throttle. 8 gears, lol.
MGC,,,I always wanted one of those! Very hard to find! Had a bunch of MG(A's, B's, GT's). The OD unit was a "Leycock De Haviland", I believe, and was used everywhere you want to be in European circles. Ernie |
A polished titanium knob from Voodoo would be much lighter and as it is round the co-efficient friction would make typing about your new Shelby Cobra much easier, hence better fuel economy and top speed. :-)
Regards, |
Ernie - stop hankering after that MGC. Had one back in my early days. It would re-define "push" for you. All the weight of that iron 6 cyl plus the world renowned (LOL) MG front suspenison = terminal understeer. Brakes weren't up to much either. Preferred the MGB much more.
Always did enjoy overdrive units- lots of Brit cars had them at one time, Triumphs, MG's, Humbers etc etc. Need one now to fit onto our LandRover Defender - damm thing is making me deaf at any kind of speed! |

1969 MGC was a sleeper for me because not that many C's were imported. I owned it in 1976, managed to acquire a racing manifold with the triple webers.
Most people thought it was a B car, didn’t notice the radiator or sidedraft bulge. I stood with a 1976 brand new 911S in the first three gears running 90mph between stoplights, twice in a row. Did he have a look on his face? Z car’s, Porches, Datsun 2000’s all fell to the 3liter engine. I did run copter fuel in it when a buddy at the airport had a little to spare. The only race I really lost was to a Chevy Vega, the bum had swapped in a 327 and a narrowed posi rearend, left me in the middle of the road with my pants down. The brakes, well I kept a boat anchor handy never knew when the power brake booster would not do its job. Even with a relative getting me parts at wholesale the car ate me out of house and home, I sold it because I got tired of feeding it. Regards Gary |
