Alum FIA body/chassis for sale on eBay
|
nice,but prefer IRS. chuck
|
Doc, are you sure thats a live setup?
|
Thats very interesting! Looks like it DOES have IRS. Tranverse leaf spring on the solid mount rear end with no axles installed yet. Appears to be pretty authentic "replica".

This photo is taken looking into the left rear wheelwell. You can see the custom 9" Ford IRS diff. :)

Hightech made a great replica. Never heard why they didn't make it in business. They got great reviews from the automotive/kit magazines.
|
looks like a nice start but apears to be missing a lot of important pieces (and maybe custom) i wonder if they have all the suspension components, or the firewall, or.......
|
MY error,I meant coil spring setup.(I know that the leaf is original design, just not my favorite) chuck
|
Hi Tech is in business????
|
Yeah,,,I would want the coil springs also. I understand some very late FIA's did have coil overs instead of tansverse leaf?
If so, then accuracy would be there even with the coils. Hmmmm,,,,I thought Hi Tech only made glass cars. Wonder who\how that body was formed\made? Ernie |

They did dabble in alum near the end.. ..and, as you can see, made a very nice 289FIA body |
very awsome! Anyone seen one of these cars in person?
I have seen a hi tech fiberglass car & thought it looked pretty accurate, but not quite as nice as an ERA. |
I was down to Hi-Tech's shop quite often and I believe I saw
this very car when it was there. They had several fiberglass bodies and they even had two originals there for some type of work. I was impresssed at the level of accuracy they did. Having the original car and theirs side by side really showed how good they were. I'm gonna bid on it but I know there will be a frenzy toward the end of the bidding. Besides, I'm quite certain it will go way past to what I'm willing to pay. Hersh:) |
GO HERSH!!!!!! So... would you drive the GT40, or the Bare Naked Lady to the Fling??? :3DSMILE:
If you get all that's shown in the photos, you're getting more than "other minor Cobra parts" as described.... Windshield Radiator Fans IRS Brake parts |
Hersh don't pay the long dollar....
...it doesn't have the "FIA" suitcase dimples on the decklid! Stuff like that or the wrong rivet spacing will cause you great ridicule on a site like this!
Rick:3DSMILE: |
don't sweat it, Rick...
...Hersh knows a real quick way to fix those missing trunk dimples! |
Any bets on the reserve amount??????
$15K |
I emailed the guy & asked him, No response yet. I'm guessing if this is the first time he has listed it that the reserve is quite high. I would guess that he wants to see what it is worth before selling.
|
Craig, the Time frame would be a problem to finish the 289 in time. I would still take the GT40 to the Fling because I want it to
be there for at least one of them. As long as we're dreaming, If I did win the 289 bid and I did get it done in time that would just mean that you or Scott would have to drive it to the Fling.:3DSMILE: :3DSMILE: I'm as optomistic as the next guy but I realize that there are hundreds of people interested in that car. The counter on the bidding page says that over a 1000 have already viewed it. Well, here's hoping... Hersh:) |
The guy says the reserve is under $20,000. I would have the money put up a bid if only the auction was a couple weeks later....D*nm!
Good luck! |
