(Others here probably know more about this than I ... but I'm going to post it anyway...)

Didn't the kit plane industry go through a similar, um, re-alignment a dozen years back? Something about some kit manufacturers selling turnkey planes and the buyers registering the planes as Experimental (thus avoiding all sorts of rules).

After the re-alignment the kit planes have to be 50% assembled by the purchaser / pilot to be classified as Experimental.

If Turnkey replicas are going to become a thing of the past, 50% builds might become things of the future.

Excalibur,

Thanks! It's just that I'm old enough to remember the 107 Series Mercedes when they were imported into the States in the mid-70's. The 5-mph bumpers and US sealed beam headlamps turned a gorgeous car into a joke.

All of this talk about new regulations covering one of the last few "fun-to-wrench-on" car segments is like the nightmare that won't go away.

All he needed to say is.. "this is Bob Lockett of Pegasus"..

I will take him out of my target file now..

I know!

We could have an entire section of CC devoted to "Mystery Guests". Every week a new celebrity comes to CC under a different name, and in 25 posts or less we guess the persons real name! :p

However, intent of the person may take A LOT more posts... :D

all south african imports from south african companies recieve a subsidity from the goverment on tooling and product exported. This can be up to 25% of the exported value, rebated to the manufacturer. This is to incourage south african business business development.

Great Asp 01-26-2003 08:13 PM

SEE???????

I told you guys we would have more mystery guests!!!!

Now can someone guess who jinwang is?

Jinwang registered with CC in April 2000 and his first post was on this thread almost 3 years later??????? This is good stuff! I wonder just how many gov't employees / Shelby employees are watching this thread???? Makes you wonder - huh? Like I said in a earlier post on this topic........better get 'em while they're hot boys. Pretty soon we'll be seeing Cobra replicas with rubber bumpers, air bags, smog equipment / mufflers, and we'll all be required to wear helmets!

Excaliber 01-27-2003 12:45 AM

..so maybe he was just tongue tied for three years? It happens, lol.

Ernie

Specialk 01-27-2003 05:43 AM

Wasted Time

Now that I've p#$ssed away about 15 minutes (slow reader) on this post I've come to the conclusion that in alot of cases this forum is populated by folks that I'd rather stay clear of. Put another way, you've wasted my time for the last time.

Adios!

Hank

I note that not many people respond to posts that include the poster's name and just plain old open communication.

I totally agree with you. (I hope your dog barks LOL)
