LOOK AT LONE STAR. THEIR DOORS AND COCKPIT IS 4" LONGER THAN A UNIQUE. I KNOW BECAUSE I HAVE A LONE STAR AND MY FRIEND HAS A UNIQUE. TILT WHEEL, ADJUSTABLE SEAT, SET THE PEDALS CLOSE TO THE FIREWALL. YOU SHOULD FIT! I'M ONLY 5' 10" BUT WHEN I WAS RESEARCING DIFFERENT COBRAS, I HAD TO SLOOOOWLY EASE IN & OUT OF THEM. A LONE STAR HAS MORE ROOM IN THE COCKPIT. TAKE YOUR TIME AND TRY THEM ALL ON FOR SIZE.

Bmaolne is right. You have to get used to the car.

Although I'm a mere 5'11" and 200 lbs, the giant I bought my Contemporary from was 6'6" and 250+ lbs.

He always kept the hard top on and showed me the easy way to get in and out of the car. Getting in: go head first. Getting out: go butt first. The seat is bolted in place and I have not had to move it. The seat seemed really narrow for my big butt, but now it fits just fine. My left calf muscle used to hurt after the first couple of times using the clutch. Also, it took a little time getting used to the pedals being shifted over to the right. At first, I was constantly bumping the gas pedal when applying the brake. Having a size 13 shoe dosen't help either. And I can only wear sneakers-boots are too big.

So........after the first couple of weeks went by, the car feels just perfect. But, my wife still hates it.

Listen to DV... the CR Cobra is big enough for you. I'm 6'4" 280 lbs. Dropped the seat about 2" in the back and with the seat cushion out I fit very well (looking through the windshield). With the seat cushion in I'm looking about 50/50 through the windshield.

I have also heard that the FFR with the newer dropped foot boxes work well for bigger folks. Heck, Richard Oben is about the same size as me and fit fine in his older FFR.

Just remember, the Cobra ain't no Caddy!

I'm 6'0" but have the upper body of someone 6'5" and lets just say the difference in our weights is siginficant any I fit in my Contemporary with no difficulty what so ever.. The guy that built my car, Don Borders is 6'3" and he builds some of the nicest Cobras you will ever see and is presently building the Boyd Coddington Replica.

Well you have an inch on me, but I do fine in my SAI (once I first get in-get both feet in, standing, then slide down into seat) but LoneStarClassics.com has a FINE replica which extendscockpit 3 inches. VERY easy for anybody to ingress/egress.

I'm 6'7" 220 lbs and fit OK in my original 427 Cobra. I basically step over or around the steering wheel with my right leg and then slide down into the seat. I took the frame rails out years ago and bolted the seat to the floor so I could drive with the top up and not have it flap on my head. When I was young, about 30 years ago, I drove it a couple of times on 12 hour rallies. I find the car fairly comfortable since my driving leg rests on the trans tunnel. The most tiring thing for me is the wind and heat.

I have bent and or broke several of the switches due to my legs hitting them while sloloming the car. I also drive with a bare key, no key ring, since my left knee hits a key ring and will shut the car off. Since the Kirkham and csx4000 are the same I would imagine they would be OK. I also fit in a friends ERA.

Since everyone is built a bit different you really need to try before you buy. For your info, when I first looked at my car I had trouble getting behind the wheel but after I figured it our it was fairly comfortable. By the way my knees hit the dash on both my Expedition and Lincoln Towncar unless I sit up real straight. I have driven a friends Viper coupe but have a lot of trouble getting my leg on the clutch to the point that I would have to do something with the seat to make it safe if I ever got one.

He kept telling Bob that he (the older guy, not Bob) is too tall to fit into a Cobra. I told this guy that Bob owns and drives that Unique 289. He just kept repeating that he was too tall for a Cobra.

Two neat tricks Bob uses to fit:

1. Dash cut out. Bob has cut out a semi circular portion of the dash along the lower edge between the steering wheel and gearshift to give his right leg clearance.

2. Bob uses memory foam in the driver's seat. This is really neat stuff. Both seats in bob's Unique look identical, but when you sit in the driver's seat, the foam padding compresses about 4 inches to about 1/2 inch in thickness. This way Bob gets additional leg room and sit lower in the cockpit. The special foam always returns to its original shape no matter how long it's been squeezed, so when you get out of the seat, you can watch it rise back to original thickness. Both seats look thickly padded and original.

Hey you could loose 150 pounds, but like me I still sit high in the saddle. Removing some seat padding, replacing it with memory foam and removing the rails and bolting the seat to the deck will gain you approx. 1 1/2" There is lots you can do. I'm fond of the Contemporary, ERA, UNIQUE, the new SPF's and Midstates all afford a good fit, considering.

Now I can even fit in one of those 550 Spyders.

Go to the Unique website and open the FAQ section.

They claim to have drivers fitted who were 7'2" tall..
Dropped foot boxes, seat position and raised dashboards etc.

They may be able to answer questions for you...
