Turk,
It is my understanding that CS found a 50 lb. sack of unpopped original corn and has petitioned the FDA to permit him to make continuation corn using some or the original kernels in each package, augmented with new kernels. The new kernels will be obtained from Orville Redenbacher, and through a marketing agreement Orville will supply Shelby with the new kernels, which will be the bulk of each package, yet Redenbacher is not permitted to divulge this fact for marketing purposes. Of course there will only be a limited number of reissue packages so they will bring a premium price. At least that is what I hear from the Nutrition department. There is also a rumor that CS has made unflattering remarks about others in the popcorn industry and he has vowed to put them out of business Cheers, Pete |
Pete C....that is so corny...lol

I would imagine it would depend on the the by-laws that govern SAAC.
Can't we get an attorney to stop this injustice with some legal wrangling and keep out the eleanors and omni's out of the registry. I will even offer to aid in a filibuster if needed. ;) ;) Regards, Keith |
Does the chilli get in too?;)

So, WHEN did Shelby get involved with Elanor???
Gentlemen,
Inclusion in the SAAC Registry should be limited only to products that Carroll Shelby actually had a hand in designing or conceptualizing. As far as I know, the new Elanor had absolutely no imput from Shelby. He only provided a belated blessing AFTER the movie cars were designed and executed. This is nothing more than an attempt to increase the value of Elanor 500 GTs. Before I get accused of Shelby bashing, please let me point out that I believe that The Dodge Viper and various Chrysler products belong in the registry. Yes they do. How can I say that? Because the Chrysler cars actually had Shelby's imput. Here's a quote from the April, 2003 issue of Collectible Automobile from an interview with Don DeLaRossa (famous Ford desingerwho later became head of Chrysler design). CA: Didn't you work with Carroll Shelby on several cars wshile at Chrysler? DeLaRossa: I worked with Carroll for a long time. Iacocca recruited him to work for Chrysler, and he helped hot rod several models. Those cars helped Iaccoca reach his goal of expandingthe importance of Chrysler products over a broader field. It was a very successful relationship and a very fulfilling one for me personally. I enjoyed working with Carroll. CA: Did Shelby play any real part in the design of the Chrysler products that bore his name, or was that design work primarily done by Chrysler designers? DeLaRossa: Carroll definitely participated in the design. No question about that! In my experience, it's unusual for talented, creative people to include others, but he was extremely good about that. On many of the cars, he almost did the entire thing. On one Shelby Chrysler I can remember, my only contribution was the paint striping or something like that. He was usually the person who did the work, both mechanically and from the artistic pointof view , on all the Shelby Chrysler products. SO, STOP THE OMNI BASHING! There you have it, Evan. Shelby's a nice guy, does his work and plays well with others. There was no hype about Shelby's involvement with Elanor before or during the movie release because there was none. And, I can't imagine Shelby NOT getting publicity if he had anything to do with putting vthe ORIGINAL (Nicolas Cage version) Elanors together. HOW ABOUT LIMITING THE SAAC REGISTRY TO CARS THAT CARROLL SHELBY KNEW EXISTED???? |
I do not know this, so don't take my head off ok......
But didnt I read, or hear that one, and only one of the cars that were made to be "Elenore" was an actual Shelby car. Seems like the one that Jerry Brucmeyer(sp) kept for himself. Is that right? And isn't this car designed by Chip Foose, and not Carroll Shelby? Ferrari Killer Steve Parks |
Right you are, Steve...
"The first idea was to use a GT40 for the movie, but even in a movie with a budget of $90 million, it was to prove too expensive, and the next choice was a '67-'68 GT500 Mustang. This turned out to be a much better idea as it was much easier to use regular Mustangs, dressed up to fit the part. However, in the wonderful world of Hollywood things are rarely as they seem ; and 'Eleanor', the film's starring '67 Mustang GT500, is in fact one of 12 different cars." "...But the real Eleanor was the 13th. It was built for Bruckheimer himself, was never used in the movie, and was based on a real GT500 Shelby Mustang." Read more about Cinema Vehicle Services here... Note..these cars have NOTHING to do with the GT500E built by Sanderson. |
Thank Ron,
I knew Chip Foose had something to do with this car coming to life. Ferrari killer Steve Parks |

Hmmmmmm................Shelby, Chrysler, stripes...................sounds like my truck should be in the registry!!!
Take THAT BiB!!!! BTW, thanks for this smilie Steve. |
Yes they were Omnis, but they were kicking mustang and camaro butt. It goes with Shelby's philosophy of big motor, little car. They had somewhere aroung 180ft/lbs of torque in a 2600 pound car. Some Shelby Chargers were intercooled and had about 23% more power yet. They rode like they had no springs, flat cornering attitude, and cheap. (take that how you want)
