Yes I like the Eleanor "replica". Debatable whether it belongs in the Shelby Registry. But I guess you could argue that if it is a Shelby "endorsed" product it belongs there.

agro1 02-03-2003 03:56 PM

Would you please explain to me/us how an Eleanor clone or whatever you want to call it, could be in the Shelby registry if it was never a Shelby in the first place but yet started it's life as a Mustang that has been made to look like a Shelby ? Wouldn't it then just be the same thing as another GT350R clone ? Under that logic, anything that Shelby "endorses" would be considered for the registry and I'm sure have allot of people up in arms - Ya know, I'm not too smart but there's this whole idea of devaluation...Your thoughts ?

...now, a nice clean place to continue this discussion.

Please, proceed....

LOL - Thanks Ron...

Excaliber 02-03-2003 04:12 PM

Well put Ron,

,,and Evan, a good question that is tough to answer. I been thinking about it,,,,yeah,,,Shelby does "endorse" the cars. I guess thats "enough" for the registry.

Argro 1 makes a valid point, at least as far as "vehicles" go. C.S. is a dealer for those strange little MoPeds that resemble Harleys. Good thing they only have two wheels, or they might "qualify" for the registry. Eleanor's will dilute the quality of the registry, no doubt in my mind.

Don't throw out the baby with the bath water, the registry will still be the "official" source (dirty water though it be).

Argo 1: Please see my last post under "Kit Car Magizine - Shelby 03"

In a nutshell I would like to see the Registry reserved for only SAI products. But if you are going to include Shelby "endorsed" products you might as well include Eleanor with the Chilli.

I think if you have a separate section for "endorsed" products I guess its acceptable to me. I would prefer not to have it but...

I also think there should be a separate section for Cobra replicas listing the different manufacturers and the history of the replica industry. They are clearly an permanent part of the present day Cobra storey. Call me crazy.

LMAO

On a side note, how about every replica that CS has signed his name on for a donation to his foundation. Technically, he has "endorsed" those cars in the truest sense of the word. Maybe those replicas should go in the registry.
But as Ron said, if Eleanor, then the electric guitar too.

So if I make a generous donation to the Shelby Heart Foundation or whatever it's called and he signs the tailgate on my 67' chevy truck should that be in the registry too!! NOT!!

The registry should be kept pure and only allow products built/produced by SAI or products specially modified by Shelby or his companies. Otherwise there is no point in having a registry.

Jamo 02-03-2003 07:25 PM

I'm gonna get him to sign my ass. May require a significant donation, but well worth it if it gets in the Registry. It ain't any worse looking than that Hollywood Falcon-based thingy.:JEKYLHYDE
