He everyone,
After a few years of driving the chrome pipes on my car had started to discolor and I was to the point that I was going to take them off the car and send them and have them redone. After seeing a lot of Cobras I knew I was not alone with that problem. I started to think...who knows how to keep chrome looking good...Natural answer HARLEY RIDERS.
So, off the the Harley shop I go to talk to them about the problem. The guy doing some of the bike maintenance saw me drive up and came out to talk to me. When I told him what I was looking to do he took me to the parts counter and said "try this stuff first" Told me he would bet, I wouldn't take the pipes to be rechromed after using the bottle he handed me. Told me that was what he used on many of the bikes with pipes that started to blue.
The product he handed me was made by a company called Bike Brite and is called the Blue Buster polishing kit. I brought it home and a buddy of mine lauged at me...told me I had just threw away 30 bucks to a "snake
oil" salesman.
I didn't get to use it right away and it set in my garage for 6 months. Yesterday while I was cleaning the car I decided to give it a try and boy am I pleased with the results. It took me about 45 minutes with their polishing pad mounted on my air drill to clean both pipes to a nice bright chrome finish. (I need to get a smaller pad to work the tubes at the front of the collector)
I jumped in the car and drove over to my friends house and he came out and said, so I see you got your pipes rechromed. Told him no and told him I used the "snake
oil" that I bought. He was very impressed.
If you are like me and won't listen to the wisdom of getting ceramic coated pipes and just have to have chrome, look into this product if your pipes start to discolor. It's the best $$ you will spend to keep those pipes looking great.
