computerworks 02-22-2003 12:26 PM

Roscoe...
did they I.D. that Dragonsnake by number?

Roscoe 02-22-2003 12:28 PM

This may sound a bit crazy but all those Cobras behind the Shelby ropes were..ah...er...well...reproductions.

Roscoe

Roscoe 02-22-2003 12:40 PM

Ron,

Also that Dragonsnake replica was a FIA bodied 289. I believe that the Dragonsnakes were all 427's, body and engine.

Roscoe

computerworks 02-22-2003 12:47 PM

naw...the real ones were first 289's..

That's why I asked...trying to understand the trunk bumps on a DS?

Roscoe 02-22-2003 12:51 PM

Ron,
Ah...ok....I saw them too. Must be the new csx4000 modification???

Ron,

The DS is the very wicked CSX7003. twin turboed 1200hp smallblock. YIKES!

Roscoe 02-22-2003 01:15 PM

There was another white one at the show but not with the Shelby stuff. It had twin Vortek turbos on it.

Thought it was a bit much.

That was a Kirkham (KMP051)..engine built like CS/Cosby car.
..supposed to be auctioned there this weekend.

Bill Wells 02-22-2003 01:50 PM

that twin paxton Kirkham has been for sale for some time, listed once or twice on cobra country as well as ebay at least 2 times. custom blue interior and soft top as i recall from the prior advs with an offwhite/creamish looking paint color. one paxton with carb can be tempermental at times to keep streetable, wonder how this one runs on the street with TWO paxtons ? i do like the uniqueness of that drivetrain. bill

That looks like the one that was there. Right at the entrance when you walk in.

Boys,

If this newest Dragon Snake (CSX7003) is out of Billy Andrew's shop at HRE....this could quite be the newest addition to Team Cranky Racing.

http://www.priveye.com/ac/cobra2.jpg

The cage looks familiar, I haven't seen the car completed, but I know its done.

If this is it, he will debut this car with PDA at Watkins Glen in May.

Cal Metal 02-22-2003 02:24 PM

Original Factory DragonSnakes wouldn't have had cut back FIA style doors, either. The Harr Ford is the only recognized 427 DS; all the rest were SBs.

In case anyone wants to see 1100-1200 hp under the hood of the DS.

AC Update

I witnessed the New R Model 427 Comp Car in fiberglass with a 715HP Vortech supercharged Aluminum Block. It had all custom triangulated frame, special interior including the dash. A great looking car in Guardsman Blue/White Stripes/Meatballs bearing the # 01 for CSX 4001. It sported a Flip-Top style windscreen. There was no "Originalty" thing planned for the looks of this car. It sold for $196,000 to Future Classics in Lakewood, New Jersey.

I also ran into the Aluminum Guy that does the work for HRE.
Quess what he had????????????
---The "Evan Harris Hood". It looked much better.
---Even after we used it as a snowboard...

PS. I don't think the Dragonsnake made the 1100-1200 mark.
Rumor has it that is in the 800 range..
-Still plenty

As for the funny colored Kirkham car. It got bid to $67,000 with a $45,000 Curt Vogt Bill Cosby Syle Twin Paxton.
The auctioneers did not present it well fumbling the Kirkham name making sure not to call it a Cobra in front of Carroll. I think they called it Kirkman.
It is a nice car but I think the buyers don't like the color combo along with the bumper overides instead of quick jacks. Also, there are no rivets on the hood. In my opinion it shows too much like a replica from a glance.

Specialk 02-22-2003 07:47 PM

Thank you very much for the info Steve. $196k eh? :)

mr bruce 02-22-2003 07:51 PM

Sure is a lot of "BIG PAPER" in Jersey. You cats all in the "sanitation bizz" ,or what?

Recap

My report didn't include one of the most important details.

I have seen Carroll at many events in the recent past. Sometimes he can be a bit Cranky(Roger, no offense). But hey, if I was 79 and had the medical history the Carroll had and then got dragged to racetracks in 100 degree weather to sign autographs, I think I would be even more cranky then him. He was truly in amazing form today. I can't believe he is 80 and is a lucid as he is and in such great spirits. I remember seeing the Frank Sinatra 80th when he went off on a tangent on stage and cryed. He was a mess and didn't have half the medical stuff that Carroll had. My hat is off to him. With that type of positive attitude, he might out live us all.
Happy 80th Carroll.
