Hello Brent-Car of the month!

Brent,
After getting tired of looking at my own post, I wonder if the front page space can again be utilized to publish a photo of one of the members's cars.

I could not find the place to take my own post down. Help!

To make it interesting, how about we start with the Ugliest Cobra of The Month?

That way no one would have their feelings hurt.
If someone's car didn't make the list, it is not like they are going to call one of us and complain that their car was uglier and that they got robbed!

What do you think?

All kiding aside, with upcoming DVSF III I think the stickies and front page exposure will be at a premium. I am sure DV could use some sort of a billing in here on front page too.

Great idea Turk! Saturday I picked up the ugliest Cobra I have ever seen in my life. I'm supposed to finish it for the guy but I'm embarrassed to have it in my shop. I'm pulling it out of my trailer today so I'll post a picture. I'll volunteer this one for the 1st month.

I think that is one of best ideas to come around in a long time! Heck, I can't imagine a Cobra I couldn't like. They look cool even in primer! Ugly Cobra? Isn't that an oxymoron? Post some pics and lets get to the bottom of this!

Moderators have their perks.
Since it is the "Ugly Cobra contest", I thought I would strat with a picture of my car not to hurt anyone's feelings.....

Ok, here is the first shot. I wish you could see the paint it is the worst I have ever seen. The car is about a 96" wheelbase, non Cobra windshield with plexiglass, sits on a 1976 Corvette chassis. The glass work is absolutely awful. I have no clue who made this but I would like to know. It's going to take some work but I may be able to make a car out of it.

Oh, I see your point, lol, I guess it's not an oxymoron after all. So, you going to put a Cheby with a 2 speed automatic in that thing? HA HA!!!!!!

It already has it. 210 whopping horsepower with the old smog motor. I could be wrong about the make of this car. I just found a serial # tag that says built by Shelby American. Hmmmmm!
The pictures actually make the car look better than it is. I'm sure you've heard of a 10 footer well this one is a 50 footer at night!

Yup,
It is ugly!

I think we have a winner...or is it loser?

Carroll DeWeese 02-26-2003 01:14 PM

Maybe instead of the "Ugliest Cobra", it should be called "Cobra-Want-To-Be". I do not think any Cobra is ugly, but some of the "Want-To-Be's" are.

Another option is to rotate (daily, weekly, monthly?) club member Cobras. I love the pictures that now come up on the home page each time you go to the home page. Just rotate a larger picture of cars as submitted by members for "Cobra of the Week" or whatever.

From what I can see ...it looks like an Elegant made in Indianapolis. I know that the hood looks like a hunter but a hunter has a better door and dash setup.

cobrashoch 02-26-2003 05:47 PM

Hersh - I think you've nailed it. The give away to me is the door hinges in the top photo. Just before Elegant shut down there was some pretty bad cars made by them...........

nice paint job

Bill Kesner 02-26-2003 10:14 PM

Damm Don,

You've really got some work allright! Trash the hood, windshield, and engine for starters. The rest is all cosmetics. There's some potential there, though a set of dark glasses wouldn't hurt.

Sounds like a plan guys, and that's one ugly Cobra. :)

Turk, got your message.

dscott 02-27-2003 07:54 AM

The owner doesn't want to change anything on the body and he actually said the paint looks cool. I had someone tell me it might be an Indy Exotics, were they the same company as Elegant?
Don

BT SNAKE 02-27-2003 08:37 AM

Don,
They are indeed the same company. To varify if it is an Elegant, check the fiberglass thickness. If this car is very heavy and has over 3/8th thickness then I'm sure that's what she is.
Hey, just tell the guy to put some black stripes on it and that should tone it down a bit.:JEKYLHYDE :3DSMILE:

Hersh:)

Turk 02-27-2003 08:44 AM

I think it looks just fine with the Yellow stripes it has now. I would leave it yellow with yellow. It would be unique.
