HOw much fun is it really is?????
Well this is the first time posting a thread, so here goes something I hope.
I am a newbie to the word of Cobra's, am I?
I was a youngster when I saw one of the first Cobras, quite some 25 odd years ago, only remembering drooling all over myself, remembering those smooth curved shapely lines sitting on top of the fat good year tires, that was quite some time ago.
the Cobra was always part of me. It is like some kind of the thirill or something really out of reach.
Now I have owned a few nice cars and some were not as nice,
Had a mustang, drove the Porsche, tried the Transam for a year or to. got older supposed get wiser, but the Cobra was always in my mind.
Well, I had the pleasure of driving one the other day, wow is all I can say. The krispy throtlle wa nise, sounded like a tornado throught the side pipes comming down, the cornering was so awsome, I was back a kid once again.
Pulled up to the gas station, people start walking over to me, asking the silly questions, I remeber I used to ask.
Some were, waiwing some were smiling and some would just show a big fat smile.
This thing is so awsome I thought to myself, going down the street and shifting into the third tire loose traction a bit, and I had a big grin on my face.
Well, I will stop here, and start seriuolsly looking to build one of my own.
Here is a question to the Cobra's owners?
Do you guys get that same big @$$ grin on your fase driving down the street?
Do you get waived at, looks and stares?
Please let me know, cause after that it is hard now not having one around, but for a short time it was a blast.

Wild,
The big ass grin never ends, but I guess everyone has a grin for different reasons. Some love the attention and stares, some love just the sheer thrill of driving the car. The questions and stares will NEVER end, so you either get used to it or learn to deal with it. It's a matter of personality. At times, I admit I like it. But at times, I just want to get in and cruise. The wife loves feeling like a movie star.
Driving the car is just an absolute blast. Racing it is even more fun.

I had my Excal about a year. I NEVER EVER got tired of the fun, the attention and all that comes with owning a Cobra. I to have had some "nice" rides! Nothing even comes close to a Cobra, NOTHING for sheer all around fun. I can't wait to get back in the saddle and get another one.
It's not just a "car", your driving an American Icon that belongs to the "people", it's your responsibility to drive it and bring smiles to the masses. I never really understood until I owned one.

Is the pope a Catholic? Does a bear do it in the woods?
I would own one for the sheer thrill of the raw power.
The grins & the giggles you get from others is icing on the cake!
Go for it.

On a 6 mile round trip to get groceries today...
(My babe in the passenger seat) we got 3 thumbs up, dozens of "stop dead in your track" looks" and about 6 questions from bystanders. More attention than I would have thought before I had one. In fact my car, with no more than 230 miles on her locally, is already something of a legend, or "sightings" type car, that people buzz about
But then she is a really nice cobra !

I f you have a Cobra, you better like people. It gets attention that almost no other car gets. My Cobra will be operational next week but I have driven many and been around alot. I hve seen them beside cars that cost over 3 times as much and the Cobra gets all the attention. Its takes twice as long to do most everything due to people stopping to talk and ask questions. The car is a blast to drive, but if you do not like people the Cobra is not the car for you. I have met no one that does not like the car.

Wait a minute! I pick up my FFR next week and this is the first time anyone has mentioned that I have to wear clothes. DAM1T, driving this car is going to be more uncomfortable than I thought.

like nothing else
The guy from house of cobras said it best in "bitten by the snake" video.
He said, he has driven thousands of Cobras and not once did he get out of a cobra without looking back at it....

If you think that cruisin by yourself is fun, wait untill you cruise with 15 or 20 of us!!
To bad you didn't make Austin you could have cruised with 70 of us!!
Try to make our April meeting at Texas Motor Speedway, you'll meet a bunch of Cobra Guy's and Gal's.

Due to the winter up here, my car has been tucked away in the heated garage since November. Spring is just around the corner and I should have it back out on the road in a few more weeks. My stomach gets all tied up in knots just thinking about firing up that beast and getting it out of the garage.
The waves, the questions, the tumbs up will begin all over again. I can't wait for the fun to begin.

Dear Mr. Wild Cobra,
This will be the 16th year of fun in my Cobra. After 100,000 miles and all kinds of rallies, autocrosses, shows and trips, it's still a blast! Check out my report on Saturday's rally.

Well, it's been only 16 WEEKS for me, Rally...
.....BUTT, thanks to Ronster's little Red Road Rocket---I could die tomorrow and it would take a coroner 3 weeks just to get the smile of'n mah face!! I stood behind the Butler's cute little BUTT and marvelled at how small (and narrow) the car really is. I'm still tweaking ride height, etc., but the "stance" on a Butler is so-o-o-o cool! And (stand back!) it's about the size of a flippin' Miata. I kinna speak for the other Cobras, but the Butler is one compact little doodle-bug. And GAWD! does that Cleveland rev!!! Just screaming around the back roads of the outer Cape...ooooh mah! I turned 58 on the 12th (last week) and I STILL love to boom it under the underpasses. Arrested development or what? I bet I'm the only phool on this site that does that! Sure.

Fred, I'm 52 and beginning to think we ARE young men! Spanky, God rest his soul, was 71 and only a few months ago was all excited about the road race and car handling threads. I think thats pretty cool. Maybe the Cobra IS a time machine where you never grow old.
