The bad impressions most folk have of "kit cars" is because they were rolling piles of crap cobbled together on a VW pan. Cobras are not "kit cars" they are replicas of a vintage racecar. His first inpression of your car was a re-bodied VW pan. Your first impression was of an ignorant buffoon. Give him a second chance and a test ride, and he'll definately change his mind about his first impressions of a cobra.

Oh, he'll definitely get a ride in the car next time the opportunity arises. That will erase ANY doubt about the car being a VW. :D
He was trying to be polite, but also seemed to have a genuine interest in it too. He spent a good amount of time looking at it. He was telling the story of a Mustang Grande that he once owned and how fast that car was. Should I warn him about the pipes? As the discussion, which has been beaten to death, goes... the "kit" term is still negative. Though I will never understand why the public thinks a "kit" '32 Ford is awesome, but thinks any other "kit" built the same exact way has a negative implication about it. Apparently, the guy is into the science fiction scene (I didn't get too into it). If he's a real Trekkie, maybe I should ask him if that was the series with Darth Vader in it.  |
