Dont let your secretary drive the Cobra!
Caught on a stoplight cam.....Well, not quite.
I'm actually testing an idea. Is there a market out there for this kind of artwork? I've seen many automotive caricatures over the years, but not many in a photo-realistic format. I love doing this sort of stuff and I have often wondered whether or not anyone would be interested in purchasing printable or wallpaper versions of this type of work. Individual details like colour, style (289, 427 or any car for that matter), driver, caption and background are variable. If there is an interest in this type of Cobra artwork, my thoughts are as follows:
* Make available through ClubCobra - part proceeds go to Brent
for the website and/or DVSF.
* Semi-custom versions of 289, 427 in user specified color
schemes.
* Full cutom versions featuring user's car of choice and user-
supplied photo inserted as driver / passenger.
* Any other ideas.
* All feedback welcome.
Here's a lo-res sample of an early draft.

Nice shot! Did you use liquify in Photoshop to get the effect?

Didn't use liquefy. What I used was a series of distortion effects on different parts of the vehicle combined with some illustration and airbrush work. Time consuming but really enjoyable experimenting with the shape like that. My secretary was looking over my shoulder half the time so she got recruited to pose as the driver.

Buzz. Thanks for the info and the inspiration. I'm off to my garage/studio to take some shots. If I get anything that works I'll post the results. You have set a very high standard so I doubt if I will get to even 10% of your level but it always fun to try.
By the way I love the mirrored shot in your gallery - I presume you have two secretaries! Have you ever posted this on any of the photographic websites such as Fred Miranda's. I am sure it would be much admired in their forums.

Go for it, pderouss! Play around with various effects until you get the desired look. Fortunately only one secretary. The girl in the gallery pic is a model named Karen. Post your results when you're done. I will try a couple of the photo sites to see how it goes.
Here's a more exotic induction system.

Hi Pat. Right now the size is up to a max of 11"X17" printed. They could be distributed as downloads for printing on home printers or at the local Photo Store. Lower res versions could be used as desktop wallpapers. Larger files could be done by request. I am awaiting quotations from a friend who owns a print center about the cost of finished prints. The price for downloads?- I'm hoping to get some feedback in this regard as well as a feel for potential volume. My first love is Cobras and I owe a lot to this site for the help I recieved with my project so ideally I would like to work at a very reasonable price that could be split with Brent towards his efforts with upkeep and maintenance. Maybe it could also go towards the DVSF. What do you think is reasonable - $20? $15?
Brent, if you're listening in - what do you think? DV, any thoughts?

At those prices you are going to get a lot of work.

Thanks, Steve. Reasonably good volume will be the key to keeping the prices down.
Here's another pic.
