Need motor eduction. Is there a 351M? What is it?
I was in a salvage (oops, to be politically correct, recycling) yard yesterday. I saw an old (mid-late 70's) Ford LTD in there. The side of the valve covers, if I remember right, said something like "cubic inchs: 351 engine family 351M/400". It may have been a little different in the wording. But I'm sure it was 351 c.i., and somewhere it said 351M/400 on it. What motor is this? I know of the 351W and 351C, but....

Steve - 351/400M looks very much like a Cleveland. In fact I have known people to be sold these things purporting to be Clevelands.
Generally a low power motor, I believe that reasonable power can be extracted from them, but it is an arcane science known only to a few - bit like Clevelands, only much more so. Very few, if any, aftermarket tuning items available.
And that is the limit of my knowledge, to which you are welcome.

Years ago, I bought a 1979 or 1980 full size Bronco that had a 351M in it. It was totally gutless so some work had to be done to it, even though it was virtually brand new at the time.
I changed the cam, replaced the intake with an aluminium one, and put on a 600 cfm Holley. I ripped off the single exhaust and had it replaced with a larger diameter dual system.
It then became a totally different truck, very powerful but quite thirsty.

Thanks guys. Definitely not what I'm looking for. I suspected it may be in the Cleveland family, especially when I saw the "400" label on it.

351M/400
Check with Wadesdad. He put one in his A & C. There are more than enough performance parts available. The heads are huge looking. Steve has some pic's of his motor and car in his gallery. I'm not sure but I think Steve is putting out about 375 or so HP.
