Yeah, I couldn't find it either. Not that I'd gloat over someone breaking his motor (happens to the best of us!) but, Dude, those cars are, like sooo, ANNOYING!!!!! Just like the cars that hump up and down and go "BOOM GA BOOM GA".
And, BW64: I don't care where it's made; anything called a "Mitsubishi" is a Japanese car. Maybe not an "import" but a ricer all the same. |
Quote:
Not every "import" is a ricer. Otherwise you'd have no choice but calling every Porsche or BMW a ricer as well. There's plenty of rice even in the domestics world and one can see Vettes with body kits, Mustangs with "Altezza" tail lights, Cavaliers with giant aluminum wings and Chevy pickups with 20" chrome wheels. If you don't care where DSMs were designed and built (since everything with Mitsubishi name is an import), how about Plymouth Laser or Eagle Talon? Plymouth doesn't sound too japanese to me - and if anyone insists that Plymouth Laser is in fact an import, then all Plymouth cars - by the same rules - are imports as well. There's a big difference between an import (such as Mercedes or Audi) and a sport compact car (such as Ford Probe). Not every import is a sport compact car and not every sport compact car is an import. Quote:

So the Mitsubishi is a japanese/import/ricer, is the Eagle Talon? Is the Plymouth Laser?
Let's say I've got a Laser, made in Illinois, that runs 11s....it's rice? As far as them being throw away cars...that's part of what is making them special. For two grand you can have a daily driver that runs 11's at the track. I hate civics and the rest of the rice cars as much as anyone, but I'll tell you the DSM crowd isn't the "rice" crowd. -steve in nj- |
Oh yeah, make me look like a fool by posting and making the same exact point and getting it in one minute before me.

I think the reaction you are seeing here is not so much to the car, as it is to the morons on the video. Everyone knows that these cars can be made to perform very well, technology is a wonderful thing. But watching those two idiots driving around looking for a race, mocking someone else's car saying "it's slow" and then Ka-Boom- I laughed my a$$ off. In fact I watched over and over again because it was so funny. And it's still funny now 6 months later:LOL:  |
Excalibur.....I think your 'Skins and Mr Spurrier (Go Gators!) from my alma mater might need some help...they are looking kinda weak! And the Cowboys are looking decent, for a change!
Who'd a thunk it!?!?!?!? Parcells really IS a badazz! I don't see a playoff game anytime soon, but at least they are starting to look like a pro team again! |
As a matter of fact I drive my Cobra year 'round! And the challenge to meet ANY Mitusbishi at Hawaii Raceway Park road course still stands! By the way, I was surprised to find out how HEAVY the Mitsu's were for a "small car". Snow? Heck thats why I moved! I got a belly full of snow living in Michigan for a few years, not looking back.
Hey the Red Skins rock (even when there loosing)! BW64, I hope the Cobra your building is all you want it to be. There IS in fact some great knowledge on this site, the best I've found anywhere! Good luck to ya. Ernie (surfer dude)! |
BW64
Really? My car is capable of low 11's/high 10's on race gas and street tires (and high 11's on 91 octane pump gas). How about smoking it on icy roads in the winter or in twisties on a rainy day? Do you actually drive your Cobra in the winter or when it's raining? If you do, any bone stock Mitsu EVO, Subaru WRX or Eagle Talon would make your car look like Yugo (and I'm not kidding)... [/b]
Dude, your like a fly on my nose! my car is capable of high 8's on race gas and slicks! WHO CARE ABOUT ICY ROADS? if I wanted to kick some ass on ice I certainly wouldnt do it in a Mitsawhatshi! Of course we dont drive our cars in the winter or in rain! What planet are you from? Our cars are'nt $2K throwaways! Im talking about all out BALLS TO THE WALL, PEDAL TO THE METAL KICK UR A$$ OLD FASHIONED DRAG RACING! YOU CAR WILL NEVER HANG WITH THE LIKES OF US!! :3DSMILE:  (and I'm not kidding)... |
Hahahahaha

Just because one can drive a car in any road conditions and any time of the year (= something Cobras are not capable of) doesn't necessarily mean the car is a $2K throwaway - unless you want to throw away Hummers, Porsche C4s or literally all pickup trucks and SUVs. Quote:
http://www.importevolution.com/video...rs_fastest.wmv I'm pretty sure he could hang with most members of this board. As for the video of the clown that blew the engine in the Eclipse his daddy bought him for graduation, he doesn't represent the entire DSM community. Just like you wouldn't like to be judged based on one single video of an idiot blowing an engine in his Cobra, take a look at the links to videos and websites I provided to form an opinion regarding true DSMers. We're not happy seeing our cars being riced out by kids these days either - just like the domestic guys don't like to see the same trend infesting their cars, but disrespecting any car capable of single digits and over 800HP (especially if the performance comes from 2 liters of displacement) is simply narrow-minded - no matter if the car in question is 8-second DSM or 8-second Cobra. |
BW64, i had a '90 AWD Eclipse, ran it hard for over a hunred K miles, put on a nice 16G, full Koni etc suspension, Profec, Greddy stuff, nice rims, etc. It was a comfortable, fast and exceedingly reliable car, sold it to a girl in Canada, and it is still running hard and well up north for her.
I respect the cars, i know of the "fast with class" motto of the DSM's, i used to run at the drag strip, and have seen DSM's like mine mid 10's i in the quarter. But you are on a forum devoted pretty much exclusively to cobra replicas, so you can't reall expect much interest in the DSM cars here. I would suspect that in time, as you progress with your own cobra replica, that you will come back here for information and assistance, and even perhaps advice. You might think about letting go of some of your aggrivation about CC members attitude about virtually any other car. We are Cobra guys, not Porsche, not Viper, not Corvette guys, and we are not on CC to talk up other cars, even though i know of two SPF owners who also drive the new Evo''s. There is a time and a place for everything, and this forum is about our passion, so you might use it for yours too, and leave your enthusiasm for your DSM's on their forum, like DSM.org, where i used to post all the time. We stay off the Porsche forums, the 'Vette forums, and other enthusiast forums because there is no good thing to come out of us posting on their territory. Welcome to our brotherhood, and enjoy you replica, and let us know if you have any questions or the like. |
Hey Ernie, before you get yourself into any more trouble, I gotta tell ya, those dad-gum Hondas are built in Ohio, not Tennesee!;)
Ok, carry on... ~Dave:3DSMILE: |

"I KNOW YOU ARE BUT WHAT AM I????
HOW BOUT YOU GO BACK TO YOUR MITSASH*TZI FORUM! :D I CAN RESPECT THE FACT THAT YOU HAD A GN SINCE I ALSO HAD ONE. AT LEAST IT WAS AMERICAN MADE! |
Ohio?? Man I can't keep up with where stuff is made, LOL
It is a global market. Heck you could say the Cobra was an "import"! Ernie |
