Oil Leaks

I'm wondering what methods are being used to stop leaks in the commections on the braided lines, and remote filter housings ? Mine are leaking fairly bad and it seems I'll have to remove them to get them any tighter than they already are. I'm wondering if I should put some sort of "sealant" such as teflon tape or anything like that on the connections to stop the leaking ?
