Carlisle Pics
Spent the weekend in rainy Carlisle (PA) at the Kit Car / Import weekend. (Turk reminded me that this is the third year in a row of rain for this event).
Went there to look for some bits and pieces at the swap meet... no luck. Imagine over 200 vendors, each with a table of rusty crap that looks like they dredged a lake for.
Would have got lucky if I was looking for a front left fender for an A-H 3000.
Gotta give the Capital Area guys great kudos for driving up and down in bad weather. This year, they had an FFR Corral, with a super turn out.
Got to see Wade and company; even BLACKJACK made a guest appearance in the Excal! Also met and talked with Todd and Ron (Gags) from CT. A great showing by the FFR guys.
Shell Valley / Team -C had 3 Cheetahs there... two finished and one bare... still want to see a coupe.
I was strangely attracted to this Diva. Don't know if it was the stunning gold paint job, or the Allard-looking grille... none the less, an interesting kit.
GT40's were hot. Gordon Levy was there with Roaring Forties. Also CAV was there and showed at finished car and a roller that shows how the car is delivered. I was smitten... the CAV looks outstanding. The finished one was out of HRE's shop on Long Island.
The Honda-powered Attack was shown; I thought it was hideous.
Sunday a.m., the SPF boys drove up in a Noble.
Tonite's task is scraping the mud off my sneakers.

Good stuff buddy. Thanks for putting us there without having to get wet and muddy.

Thanks Ron,
My plan is to replace the Kirkham with a CAV GT40 when I get tired of it. Definitely cool.

I stopped off at Gordon's shop in Mesa a couple of days ago while I was in Mesa. Big question: does a 6'4" 270 lb nerd fit into a RF GT40? Answer....
YES!
Next project after I'm done with my current project car will be a GT40.

Ron,
The wife, Christopher (new baby) and I were all set to head down and due to the impending Noreaster decided to cancel on the trip to Carlisle.
Man was I pi$$ed that it did not rain a drop in Ct and most of NJ this weekend.
From the looks of it rain managed to stay on track at Carlisle. Does not look bad enough to have canceled my whole trip.
Oh well.....there is always next year.
Thanks for the pics

Computerworks,
If Wade Chamberlin and Cobras were at the same event it had to rain. This is one of the reasons I'll be in London Ohio next month to try and stop the rain, at least for Friday and Saturday. See you next month.

Can anyone tell me details on the blue/white CSX4331 (113?) that was parked outside on the end of the line next to the green A/C. A friend and I were trying to figure out if it is aluminum/glass. Very pretty car...awesome to see the guy drive it out and use it.
Thanks,
Jordan

I believe it was 'glas, based on the shape of, and the carpeting in, the trunk.

Rain
Well just like last year, it rained. After 6 hours of walking around in mud, rain and 50 degree temps, I decided to head home. As soon as I crossed the border into NJ, the sun was shining brightly and the temp hit 65. Does it always rain in PA?

Yesterday was the worst day of my life! We were planning on going to Carlisle, in our Cobras, on Sat but the weather looked better for Sunday so we decided to go then. Well, Bill K. drove up in his truck on Sat so that left him out. Bill S said he would go on Sun but "Frenched" at 6:00am on Sun morning. Tom R showed up in his Cherokee. So I was the only schmuck in a Cobra.
It was nice and sunny in Jersey but shortly after crossing the border the sky opened and I drove about 1.5 hours in downpour with nothing but RainX on the windshield. Did not get wet cause I was doing 60 all the way. A little drip on the pants leg and a wet left foot (water comes in from windshield hole.)
Got to Carlisle and it cleared somewhat so you could walk around. Sun came out for about 20 minutes.
Took off about 2:00pm and had a pretty good ride home. Sun came out about an hour past Carlisle and it warmed up a bit. Weather in Jersey was beautiful.
Met Blackjack and some of the Capital Gang and saw many familiar faces and a few new ones.
