To Brent, Turk: Some threads get way off topic?
Hey Brent, Turk:
not trying to be a jerk or anything but..., I've noticed some interesting threads get completely hijacked by the same individuals, over and over, like they have nothing better to do than see themselves talk and act stupid - just waiting for a reaction. Having a little fun and good Jokes are understandable. Repeatedly talking about useless crap that has nothing to do with the thread itself is a waste of most everyones time and good reading. It seems most of us would like to think of this site as helpful, useful, and fun. Lately, it's been a little retarded... Do you guys ever just clip this crap out and dump it into a garbage forum somewhere? Getting email notifications to see someone has replied to a thread, only to login and check and see their replies that have nothing to do with the original posters subject or question makes some of us just want to bail out. Seriously, some of these dorks that repeat this wasted disk space need to go if they keep it up. I say warn em', and if they keep it up, remove their account and save the disk space for useful or fun information for the rest of us. just my .02 cents on it for what it's worth. Thanks, Duane |
Duane,
I am with you. Allan |
Amen!

Censorship again, actually this is the type thread that will get way more action than it deserves. I wish I could get Brent to send me an email when someone responds to a thread but since his last server change that has not happened. If all you do is type messages all 3 of the above posters could type all day and never fill a 2 gig hard drive. I thought this was a forum. Post, read, don’t post, don’t read.

Hijacking is a Gashole philosophy that creates interests during mundane debates. It inspires cathartic humor at times while providing levity to subjects that will never change the course of history. It, in part, is a philosophy that nothing is so serious that time cannot be taken to laugh at life while not taking yourself seriously. It becomes the agglutin for lasting friendships that will endure REAL problems. It's here to stay, you don't have to enjoy or even read it but it is more beneficial than harmful.
Example humbly provided: Cobra Dan, looking forward to seeing you at the upcoming Spring Fling and enjoying some of that homemade cheesecake before DV hides it. ;) |
Example #2
Now we just have to determine which club members have REAL
problems and which ones have REPLICA or FAKE problems.:D :D Have a good one, Dan |
Duane,
Ignore list. Steve |
Change the forum names then.
Well if it is just going to be mostly noise and chatter... then the forum name "ALL Cobra TALK" needs to be changed to "ALL TALK".
Time to turn off my auto notification setting that someone has replied. Thanks anyhow and Have Fun! |
Duane,
Think of the forum as a bar and not a library: both have informational content, but the former includes what could be thought of as open, free-form discussion; the latter has things like signs saying "please be quiet". Or just consider the drifting thread topics as evidence of a well known social phenomenon: thread entropy! |
Guys, you can see it right here with just a few posts.
The reason why the moderators take a hands off approach most of the time is because, there is NO concensus on what does and what does not belong in here. As for continuosly closing moving deleting of topics and posts, we would have no way other than impose our own tastes and standards on you all. We were appointed MODERATORS to keep it civil and stand watch so things don't totally get out of hand. If I adhered to moderating the forums based on the narrow selections as inidcated in the suggested poll, it would soon become an extension of my own or Ron's or Brents taste of what we like. That would not be a good thing.. For instance if I start imposing my values, there would be no posts from FFR owners, Small Block owners, and anyone who ever drove by a track. This is a joke. However a live demonstration of my point. Do not try this yourselves. I am a highly trained professional. I can do it but you can't. I hope I made my point. We are moderators, for everyone not for the taste and likes and dislikes of a few. It is more delicate a walk than I would have thought a year ago. We are moderators, NOT policemen. Turk,
I think we can build a consensus on the lack of consensus. All together now.... TT |
Tom.T,

I give up....Moderators 3...Roscoe 0
Roscoe |
Roscoe, Jason, Evan... and all other masters of the non-sequitor...
I will keep moving your off-topics posts from this thread on off-topic posts.... it's not nice to tick off a moderator. ...especially when we are discussing moderation. Go find them in the lounge. |
Hmmmm..
So Computerworks can impose his tastes? I'm justtrying to figger this out....
|
Turk,
It should be in no way misconstrued that I do not disagree with you.  |

I have no taste. :D |
Well, this thread made my day, couldn't help but laugh. I started reading, thinking oh, boy this is going to get heavy. I should have known it would go this way. Every time I read a post I kept thinking about the topic and it made me laugh each time. That's one of the main reasons I come out here several times a day. When work gets to tough I know I can get a laugh out here.
Ernie, the sidepipe maker is out of town till Monday, I'm first on the list so I'll have them first part of next week. Don**) |
