Re: the headlights/front end and oval intake: I'm trying to address the poor aerodynamic isses of the "old" design while maintaining the original character. The headlights can't be flat and upright - they must be laid back and smoothed into the bodywork. I will make them a bit rounder and see how that looks.

Here's an idea. Why not try incorporating the look of the original Jag XKE headlights. I think the British motif would carry well, it would stir some emotions that people will at first be puzzled over, an will address the "brick" aerodynamics.
