Those are some hilarious anti-import links. Here's another one:

www.ricecop.com

I realize that these cars are the hot-rods of today's youth, but I still think they're goofy. I mean, ok, I've seen them make a CRX run 11's, but when it's all said and done.....you've still got a CRX!!
To me, it's no different than a 9-second Pinto or AMC Eagle. Pick a car that had some mojo to start with, ya' know?

Nor am I impressed by their huge stereo systems. Reason #136 on my "Reasons to Have a Cobra" list is so that I can roll up to a stoplight where some rice-kid is thumping out his latest Nelly CD, and I totally drowned him out with the side-pipes....beautiful!

Thats OK. I definitely turn my nose up at Hot Rodders. They don't impress me. Most hot rods are ugly IMHO.

I like Cobras, 60's Muscle Cars and Vettes. You can keep the Hot Rods.

I can't stand the rice racers. They irriitate the $hit out me. Especially when they blast that $hit they call music at ungodly decibles like we all want to here that $hit.

Evan,

Could you give us your opinion on Hot Rods, Cobras, Rice racers and Music???? Do you think Hot Rods are pretty? IYHO

Geez, you sure do put a lot of thought into inconsequential stuff.

I like the Cobras, of course! Partly because you dont see them coming and going. I like the 50's and 60's cars, the rarer the better. Saw a '65 Ford Fairlane Sport Coupe on the way to work today; clean car. Muscle cars are neat, too! We have a local Saturday morning parking lot "cruise" where EVERYTHING old shows up: '39 Lincoln Zephyr, 40's woodies, T-buckets, coupla Cobras, a '58 Packard!?!, a Bantam, Chevelles, Mustangs, Novas, Comets, etc...luckily, no ricers!! I gotta agree with Evan on the LOUD, crappy noise (cant call it music) coming out of the ricers' speakers!! lol !! Ever see some of those ricers on the freeway, bouncing up and down A LOT on their lowered suspension!! Some of the girls riding shotgun in those ricers ARE pretty cute, though!! 16 will probably get me 20!! lol !!

Hey Ernie.....

Just curious if you made it out to the British Meet on the 1st? I hear a real 289 Cobra with some history makes it out there each year. Just curious if anyone knew the ID#?

Ernie,
I have been a hot rodder(street rodder to some) since 1962. I have had seven different rods. I had the same biased opinion as many of the rodders have today. I didn't care about kits because I didn't understand. A friend built a EM cobra and gave me a ride in it. That did it! I was hooked .
I told this story before but it's worth tellin' again. Last November I took my GT40 to the Goodguys Southwest Nationals. The car was swamped with people on both days. A fellow and his wife walked up to me and said the car was nice. The guy then asks if it was a kit car. I told him it was a self assembly automobile. well, he laughed and said it's a kit! I asked him if he had a car at the show and he anxiously pointed over a couple rows and said he owned a 37 ford three window coupe. He went on telling me about all the componants he had like a Downs body and a fatman frame and loads of others stuff. When he finished I told him that Ford never made a three window coupe. He agreed and said his car was known as a phantom and they graft a 36 three window top onto the 37. I smiled at him and told him that it sounds like a kit car to me. It was pretty obvious that his wife didn't like it cause she immediatly walked away pulling at his arm.
Sorry if the truth hurts but in todays street rod market they are mostly componant built. Not too much different than a kit. At least a kit has one manufacturer but street rodders buy the componants from a thousand different places.
I luv street rods and kit cars of all kinds. I'm just a car nut.

BT,

Great point. It's like 'kit' is a bad word or something. There is nothing wrong with a 'component' car if it's built right. How many original anythings do you see on the road. Try explaining to an angry mob at a cuise night what a Superformance is!! "No Sir, it's not a kit. I didn't build it in my garage. It is a factory built replica and it is not sold as a kit". Then you tell them the factory is in South Africa - that's when they really get confused...

Caseleenie: You know. When you are right you are right.

I do seem to put too much thought into this place don't I????

 :3DSMILE:

In comparision though I don't think Hot Rods can hold a candle to the Cobra. Thats my honest opinion. So if hot rodders do turn their nose up at Cobras I'd take it with a grain of salt. Look at what those guys drive. Most of those guys can't even afford fenders for those things. Whats with that???:JEKYLHYDE
