Question where do I start?

I’m interested in building a Cobra Replica, where do I start? I want a car that I’ve built myself. It doesn’t have to break any records it just has to be fun. I’ve never done a project this big and don’t want to set myself up for failure. So, what do I need to know? What kit should I buy (I’d like to keep the total cost under 20k)? The Factory Five, donor car kit sounds like a good option. Anyone have experience with Factory Five? What tools will I need (standard socket and wrench set ok or do I need air tools)?Any feedback will be helpful.

kaptekarv,
Welcome to your new addiction. There is more information than can be put on one post.

I would first recommend deciding what you intend to use the car for. Will it be street only? Will you race it? Is originality important to you? Decide what is most important to you first.

Then read, read, read. You will find lots of information on all kinds of Cobras here at ClubCobra. Everyone is very helpful and will tell you anything you want to know.

The budget you are looking at will likely limit you to a basic level car, likely Factory Five. I have an FFR, and love the car. If you want specific FFR info, you may also wish to visit www.ffcobra.com, which is a forum for FFR owners. But you will find great info here, with opinions from all sides, which has tremendous value.

Best of luck in your search.

Steve

If you can get out and see a few cars, that would be a good place to start. I haven't built a car myself but if I did i would want to see what I can get for my money. There are many brands out there to choose from, call the companies, they will be very helpful. Good luck, and have fun.
