What do you guys do for antennas?

Mine's electric, in the left rear fender. Some people have the whip antenna under the dash; there was a thread in the last year or so, with pictures in it.

Antenna?!?!  Mine is right next to the power steering pump, and runs along the bottom by the neon light bars. :3DSMILE:

hey, those long cruises in 5th gear allow for some tunes to be heard over the exhaust sounds . i put my 'custom autosound secret audio radio' with all components buried/hidden from sight up under the dash. only a small 1-1/2x4" face plate hangs below the dash for tuner selection via infra red remote, and that too can be hidden. antennae is a small special type about the size of a large garage door opener and it is mounted out of sight behind the passenger side kick panel. i can enjoy some tunes on those long drives and laugh back at those laughing about a radio. for those laughing and without a radio, eat your heart out guys. bill

rsimoes 06-18-2003 06:37 PM

Hey Bill,

Can it play MP3 CD's?

Bill Wells 06-18-2003 06:44 PM

no, but they have a remote 6 disc cd player that can be trunk mounted. if i was to do it over again, i would hang another brand radio under the dash with a cover plate for rain protection , one that has mp3 plug in capabilities. i just wanted it to be as invisible as possible without cutting the dash, and the small face plate does fine in that regard, barely visible . next yr i will add the cd player. as often as i need to stop for gas i can always change cd's at the same time..hehehe..bill.

Rob,
We can get together sometime and you can see the 10 CD Changer and atenna on my car. They are both located in the truck. The antenna works pretty well located there.

SCOBRAC 06-18-2003 07:07 PM

my CD player gets excellent reception with an electric antenna behind the bulkhead. Be sure to ground it.

SCOBRAC 06-18-2003 07:09 PM

mine plays mp-3's too.. it also is satellite capable (plug is there)

SCOBRAC 06-18-2003 07:10 PM

did I mention I have 11 speakers, including the tweeters...

rsimoes 06-18-2003 07:38 PM

SCOBRAC, where did you fit these speakers?

George, do you have a regular antenna? I'd like to see your setup. . .

Spoony 06-18-2003 08:49 PM

You have to have tunes man. My new SPF which will be here TOMORROW!!!! Has a $3500.00 all Alpine custom installed system in it. The head unit is in the glove box, 4 Alpine 6 1/2's, 4 Alpine tweeters, 2 Alpine 10's in the trunk, Alpine CD changer in the trunk, and 2 Alpine Amps, flush mounted in the trunk, the woofer box has a plexi-glass back so you can see the speakers, and it was built to look the car was designed to have it. But, at this point I'm going on someone elses word, because I haven't seen it!!!!!! I'll have pics when I get it.

Back in Black 06-18-2003 10:30 PM

My system is

An Eclipse in dash cassette with CD controller. 2 tweeters in the doors, two midrange in the kickpanels, and an 8 inch subwoofer under the passenger seat

In the trunk is a 600 watt amp and (2) 8 CD stacks. Can I hear it ?   Anytime I want to, and very well too thank you, yes. Nothing like Steppenwolf, etc...on the road

The antennae is a flat hidden strip type, you can mount it under the dash or anywhere there is space. Nice reception

trularin 06-19-2003 05:36 AM

If you have the talent, electric retractable that hides in the fender.

Turn it on, the antenna pops out of it's pocket. Very nice. Keeps butt-heads from bending it.

The tape wire didn't work for me.

Back in Black is very correct, you have to have SteppenWolf.

Hope this helps.

FST HSKR 06-19-2003 07:41 AM

Mounted a rubber antenna in the inner panel of front fender, never rattles.

Well---I wanna avoid the Righteous Wrath of 427 S/O........BUTTTTT---

---I was contemplating making a "stealth" rig for an under-the-passenger's-dash placement---something that slides out and down a bit...in any case, if'n I need the radio (as opposed to the tape), I'm contemplating using the good-old ROLL-BAH for the aerial(?) %/ When that doesn't work...I'll come back to this site...:D

Ron61 06-19-2003 11:13 AM

Fred,

Don't worry about just having a radio in a Cobra. We have one up here that has every option known to mankind in it. He has a killer sound system, dvd player with a remote control screen that comes out of the dash for watching movies, air conditioning, super heater, and huge amps. I know I left some things out but it is hard to remember all of that when I am thinking Cobra.
