Heh heh.........

I would have replied BOTH! ;o) It's a/an FFR thing, Scott

The FAKE part was definately derrogatory. There was no need to include that word, nice car would have been a great reply.

B. SMITH 06-27-2003 11:07 AM

NICE FAKE

SUGGESTED ANSWERS; GLASS OR ALUMINUM?

"I DIDN'T ASK, IT'S LEASED JUST LIKE YOUR MOTHER'S FANCY TOYOTA".
OR

"I DON'T KNOW BUT IT GOES LIKE HELL AND DOESN'T RUST".

OR

"I THINK SO, MAYBE".
OR

"MY INSURANCE CO. DOESN'T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW".

OR THE CLASSIC

"IF I TELL YOU, I MIGHT HAVE TO KILL YOU"

Obviously...

It was a limp wrist with a jealous streak, trying to rain on your happiness. After all, he's in a lexus

Just ignore them and have fun, or tell them "neither, it's titanium" **)

I think the "snob" comment may be somewhat misdirected here. :(

Just the kind of comment I'd expect from someone who's in the buisness of making "fakes" :)

(I'll bet his Reeboks are really "Reebocks")

Chaplin 06-27-2003 02:20 PM

Aluminum or Glass?

That doesn't necessarily tell you whether it's real or fake. Apparently, the Lexus driver has never heard of the 'glass 4000 series cars.

But I agree with Bob, it probably was meant as a compliment. If he had to ask, he obviously couldn't tell whether it was real or fake. Thus, by saying "nice fake", he was admitting that it looked so good he was fooled and couldn't tell whether it was "real" or fake. Wouldn't you rather have someone tell you that your car was a nice fake rather than a bad fake. :JEKYLHYDE

traveller- Don't pick on Bob. I just took delivery of one gorgeous fake designed by his Reebok wearing self. In fact, I like it so much, I may buy him another pair of Reeboks. Of course if I buy them at the dollar store, they very well might be Reebocks. Bob, what size?

snob: one who has an offensive air of superiority in matters of knowledge or taste

Fits for me. I'd consider it a sincere compliment if he said "nice car", or even "nice replica". I don't see how you could interpret "fake" as not being derogatory.

terry lee 06-27-2003 03:01 PM

Fake or not

Lets forget all the long winded verbage, and just show us pictures of the HOTTIE.
We are able bodied and well informed individuals who are totally capable of determining what is fake and not. :D
After all, we all read this thread.

Tomsti 06-27-2003 03:13 PM

Bob, you own a Lexus? :-)

Edley Rondinone 06-27-2003 03:25 PM

Addendum: He DID say "Nice Fake" in an appreciative tone; I was wondering about the word "Fake." Maybe he was jealous! He NEVER looked at the hottie! (By the way, it turns out the hottie is married!!) Oh well the drive was nice!! lol !! As for NAF, they were/are in Tempe, Arizona. Jack Kube, the owner, still makes Cobra replicas; evidently doesnt advertise. He is currently making fiberglas Daytona Coupes for two guys that I know of; one of them is for the guy I bought my Cobra from.

Lowell W 06-27-2003 04:01 PM

So...does that mean that if it's aluminum it's a real Cobra? Or that a fiberglass Cobra can't be a real1? Please help: I'm so confused...

Mr.Fixit 06-27-2003 04:22 PM

Let me get this straight:

The guy in the toyota was making fun of YOUR car?

427sharpe 06-27-2003 06:58 PM

Edley, as my first wife proved so well, a ring closes no holes!

Edley Rondinone 06-27-2003 09:24 PM

I didnt want to get into a discussion w/ this individual; he might have got mad, skipped after me and hit me with his purse! BO DUTCH: I dont think he was worth the price of a bullet! WHALER and GEORGIA SNAKE: I am just amused at what people say to me while I drive the Cobra that they secretly would LOVE to have! TOMSTi: You are so right! is IS great having such a neat car to cruise around in! BOB PUTNAM and CHAPLIN: I WOULD rather have a nice fake than a bad fake! MR FIXIT: Maybe he was in so much awe as my Cobra sat there rumblin' and hissin' that he forgot to engage his brain before he put his mouth into gear! (I may have to get a new tag line: "Yeah, it's nice, but it IS fake, but it's MY fake, and I am DAMN GLAD to have it!")

Carleton 06-27-2003 09:34 PM

Are you sure you heard him correctly.

Maybe he said. "Nice snake!"

J. T. Toad 06-28-2003 09:18 AM

You must realize that the poor individual was probably quite embarASSed and frazzeled and trying to cover up his ignorance by the fact that your, obviously beautiful car 'fooled' him as he didn't know the difference.

Next time answer his question with 'what do you think?'

Carroll DeWeese 07-25-2003 12:06 PM

The big problem here is that whatever he said made a difference to you. His attitude -- positive or negative -- is his problem, not yours. You know what you have and why you have it. Comments by others are more a reflection of them, not of you or your car.

When you have inherent value, you do not have to defend it. No reaction was necessary or required to the remarks. You car speaks for itself.

REAL 1 07-25-2003 12:15 PM

In the end you have the car. He doesn't.

Jealously sucks and is the product of small minds.

Doug I 07-25-2003 12:36 PM

Is it real ??

well buddy, why don't we wait fot the light and find out ....

jk - none of us would ever do that - no sir not us nope never.

Roscoe 07-25-2003 12:42 PM

Mr. Polling...

NAF is no longer building cobras. John, I think that's his name, moverd his operation to Superior Az, a mining town, and now builds gt40's out of miata or fiero type cars.

Mike
