"Nice Fake!"

"Dear ClubCobra, Last night after work, I took my not-too-bad-looking NAF Cobra to the local In-n-Out Burger stand for a soda, and I had picked up a local "hottie" to give a ride to in the Cobra. As I was passing a late-model Lexus SUV, the yuppie-looking, mousse-haired male driver asked me with a slight lisp, "Aluminum or fiberglass?" I answered "Fiberglass!". He then said to me, "NICE FAKE", then he drove off. He sounded sincere about the "NICE" part, but now I am wondering if he really WAS sincere! What should I have done? Signed, Perplexed in California"

Sal Gerace 06-26-2003 09:32 PM

Just look at it as maybe he was talkin about the Hotti!;)

Whaler 06-26-2003 09:35 PM

You athhhole, not only did you have a "nice fake" but u had a nice hottie in the car as well. Things like that go in one ear and out the other hopefully. There are some who have a mad on and have to take a shot.

I like the lithp_a sounds like a wanker anyway.........lol

Obviously jealous about the girl in your car. He also was trying real hard to look smart. You have given this A hole too much thought already. What a jk a@@ really!

CRZN427 06-26-2003 11:40 PM

What to say

edley,

Why not give him the only response he would understand.

Just say "Nice RICER you got there,... Bubba".

BO DUTCH 06-26-2003 11:42 PM

Rebel1 06-27-2003 12:15 AM

"NICE FAKE"

Wouldn't worry me at all....most of the "hotties" who get in my cars are fake anyways.... I already know that. :D

Taters 06-27-2003 01:00 AM

Did he ask if they were silicon or saline!

CSX 4039 06-27-2003 05:05 AM

I know that guy. I have to meet him after hours at the clinic to give him Viagra samples in a brown bag, because he is too embarrassed to walk into the pharmacy with his Rx, because his girlfriend (not his wife) is the pharmacist's assistant. :p

GeorgiaSnake 06-27-2003 05:42 AM

Way too much thought is given to this aluminum, glass, fake, real etc. Who gives a rats ass !!!!!!!! You have something that they are looking at and they don't - chill out !

aumoore 06-27-2003 06:43 AM

Isn't a Lexus a Fake Mercedes Benz?

Bud Man 06-27-2003 07:52 AM

Don't feel bad...

Last night a guy rolls up to me while I'm fueling up and asked if my car was a Stingray...

Time to thin the herd.......

Bud

Tomsti 06-27-2003 08:36 AM

Nice fake? Yea go ahead and roll up your windows on that Lexus and drive away in your sanitized fish bowl. Edley, you have something that less then 1% of the population (and right now me) will ever have, a very unique car and hobby. The guy who said that to you? Who knows but chances are he just goes home to his generic wife/girlfriend in his generic neighborhood and golf's (ok golfers whack me for that). So I wouldn't pay too much attention to it, most people are not mechanically inclined enough to even start one of these cars.

SSS 06-27-2003 08:43 AM

I'm afraid this snob in the Lexus has a similar affliction to people with or without Cobras who get their panties in a wad over what's "real" or "decent".

Shelby himself wanted a fiberglass body for the original. 'Nuff said.

BTW, who is NAF? Are they still in business?

John Poling 06-27-2003 09:08 AM

SSS,

NAF stands for North American Fiberglas, they have been around for quite a while, look in some back issues of "Kit Car Magazine". I think they are still in business. I think they are/were based out of Arizona but don't remember for sure.

John

Bob Putnam 06-27-2003 09:17 AM

What is it with you guys? The Lexus driver takes the time to give someone an apparantly sincere compliment and you trash him.

I think the "snob" comment may be somewhat misdirected here. :(

BlueRooster 06-27-2003 09:36 AM

I agree Bob, It is a fake, its just hard to admit it. When people say it, it gives off an air that the car is a POS. Which is ridiculous. It's all in the tone.

Isn't a Lexus a Toyota in sheeps clothing??

dlang14 06-27-2003 10:11 AM

I think the proper response is "nice toyota"

Bud Man 06-27-2003 10:33 AM

Websters definition of "fake" when used as a noun..

"anything or anyone not genuine; fraud, counterfeit."

In our culture, a disparaging word. I see his point.....
