Default Quiz.......funky axle?? noise....

Bear with me.... this one is hard to describe.....but thought it would be an interesting question that others might want to be sensitive to........

I have a 9 in Ford with Moser Axels and a Power trac rear end.
I have been very pleased with the Power Trac. It is dead quiet except in full lock turns which I don't do anyway........

I have on several occassions however.......just a few times in some 3500 miles, noticed a momentary grinding/clucky sound which sounded like it was coming from the rear end or driver side axel..........it would typically happen coming out of a turn at moderate speed...........or on a wide radius turn at moderate speeds.........

I figured it was just an idiocinciry (sp?) of the power trac unit....and its done it just a few times....... but the rear end kicks left a bit.....wanders 3-6 inches the few times it has happened, so its of some concern......... (not a good thing to happen at "speed").

Anyway......I noticed yesterday that the left tire looked "out" compared to the right rear......it sat out further in the wheel well.........

I need to pull the other wheel so I can compare, but upon inspection of the left wheel I did not notice anything unussual..........all the lugs were tight........I could not tell that anything that might be securing the axle was loose.........though there was a little play in the rotor.......which I did not expect...........that's my primary purpose in pulling the other wheel......... to see if there is any play in that rotor.......

This sound familiar to anyone???

I think its a good plan to remember these things are kits.......need to keep a close eye on all those nuts and bolts!.........
