So what do you think - which color(s) provides the highest resale value for a Cobra?

Guardsman Blue. If you are adding stripes, make them the competition GM truck white that was used. Not Wimbledon.

Roscoe is right, people will pay most for what they like. Perhaps the question you meant to ask is what color car is easiest to sell? If that is the question, I'd say probably one of the original colors.

In our experience,

Blue is bay far the most desired color of paint.
Red looks nice, but still is a distant second.
Black and white are last. We have less than 5 (combined) in 8 years.
My personal favorite color of paint is British Racing Green.

But the most popular color, (paint or no paint) now days...no color...bare aluminum. Which, of course, I completely agree with.

Be careful with Blue. It is indeed the most popular color, however someone looking to buy a used Cobra is offered plenty of Blue Cobras to choose from.
If you are thinking about a short term ownership, it may be worth considering some other color.
If you are going to kep it for a while, paint it a color that will make you happy.

I think that if the car is nice ie., build, motor, condition, detail, equipment (pin drives etc.) any basic color car will have equivilent resale value and desirabiltiy as long as the color is not an off the wall color and is in your basic blue, black, red, silver, ivy green, white category.

Very nice color. Very popular right now. Lots of them out there.

I like to be different and be the black sheep.

To me black is the most awesome color in a Cobra bar none. IMHO.

I love my red with whith stripe! For me, it's THE color combo.

I MUST have a stripe, regardless of color (or as David pointed out, lack there of).

Blue, no red, no yellow, no orange, no green.......With stripes, without stripes........................AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRR RRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

So many to choose from.........

In reality, buy what you like, not what other people will be saying may or may not hold value vs anything else..........it's your money, spend it the way you want to..................

Primer. For 3000K extra throw in a paint job of any color. Seriously
folks, it's amazing how many offers you get on uncompleted cars I've had down through the years. A completed car takes a while to sell.

I think it all depends on the prospective buyer-- Blues and reds W/WO stripes , seem to be the defining colors for Cobras--seems every other car for sale is a color clone of the next one for sale--go to any Cobra gathering--most cars are blue or red

If the cars are of equal quality/build some buyers may prefer a different color--Black, White, BRG because they want to be different than the rest of the herd

I chose white/w blue stripes and roundels--I wanted a Cobra with a little different look--maybe I'll have difficulty selling it--maybe I won't--
All depends upon the prospective buyer

PS BNL's are in a different category all together--can't wait to see Pat's BNL

for cobra replicas :

blues ( guardsman, inidigo, royal) with white stripes by far the most popular new, which carries over to used. silver/titaniums gaining ground in last 3 yrs. white and black are at the back of the list. other colors scattered fill in the middle (red/yellow/green , etc ).

for OTHER 60s/70s collector cars, muscle cars etc RED is considered 're-sale red' as it is the fastest to sell , followed by white or black. then a mixture of pot pouri palate of anything else.

bill, red/wh stripes spf, works for me...white 57 tbird with red/wh trim and black/gold stripes/tan trim 65 mustang gt 350 clone...and semi color blind to boot.

I would have to agree with Ron...well both of them!

If you are just going to resale the car...DON'T paint it. We had a red car with white stripes for months, (cutomer changed his mind). We couldn't sell it because everyone wanted red no stripes, blue, you name it.

The week after we sold it...we had at least 3 requests for red/white.

I wouldn't want to prime a car as you will be responsible if the paint peels because the next painter didn't know what he was doing.

Just say no to paint...aluminum!
