There is nothing unusual about taking an extended break during the building of a hot rod, or the restoration of a car. Happens more often than folks let on. I have my hot rod completely disassembled, but all the parts are there and ready to be reassembled. Just haven't had the time, money and motivation since I got the body back from the painter a year ago. One of these days.

All right, that's it. Enough of this #@%$..... Make a plan. Set a realistic goal. Set small goals and complete them. Know that it will be a lot of work and time. Don't make it about time and money. Don't sacrifice, hold out and take your time. Commit to your project. You have a real good start.

All kidding aside, the best way to build is to break it down into small 'systems' or groups. This way you give yourself realistic goals along the way and the job does not seem overwhelming. If you look at a brake system or fuel line group, etc. it is much easier to manage.

Rob,
I am sorry to hear about your despair with the build. Stay with it Guy. I know how it can get dishearting at times. Some advise. You stated that you are spending a tremendious a mount of time searching for parts. I can not suggest any help for the car build parts per say, but the drive train, engine, etc. Just stop searching the internet for these items, period. Just go down to K&G in Newtown Square and see either Lynn or Doug. They also have late hours so it is convenient to visit after work, 10 PM some nights. They are also a Ford Motor Sports Distributor, as well as all other speed equipment, so you will get what you need the first time. It may cost you a few extra bucks over shopping the Net, but a lot less aggravation. Good luck and hang in there. Bud |
