Default Nice Harley Jesture

Last night my wife and I took the Cobra to The Rivers Edge, an outside restaurant on Riverside Dr. We pulled in the parking lot about 9:00 and every parking place was taken. This place has about a diverse a crowd as you can imagine (young, old, professional, blue collar, joggers, bikers, etc). Anyway, the usual contingent of 20-30 Harleys were there with most parked on the grass and up by the running paths. Several were parked in the "Motorcycle Only parking spaces. As we were pulling out and ready to head over to Brookside for Plan B, some of the Harley guys waved us over and told us they would move some the bikes and we could park in the Motorcycle only parking. We did and we tried to buy those guys a round of drinks but they just suggested we tip the band so we did.

I also sent over a round of Corona's to their table. Nice guys but I suspect one or two of them may have been attorneys...By the way is it just me or is there something really sexy about a good looking blonde in a leather halter and top daisy duke shorts. I love summer nights!

Maybe I should include a disclaimer to my post? Something like this:

...but since I am so happily married I stopped looking at those type of women years ago. I can't imagine how they can look theirselves in the mirrow dressed like that.

How's that sound? Convincing? Sincere?

Nah, my wife knows me too well.

Clois,

I'm with you there buddy. There really is something about the look (and smell) of leather on a woman.

My favorite biker T-shirt is the one guys wear that says, " If you can read this, the b!tch fell off".

Yea Clois,
After working Daytona Bike Week for 25+ years, I agree with you that the Bikers are a Diverse and Friendly group. And believe me I've 'SEEN" all kinds of Female Biker attire but by far Leather seems to be a "Favorite".

Harley guys and bikers in general understand respect for others "rides". They are always careful and courteous in my experience.

What makes me nervous is soccer moms pushing the baby stroller!.

Evan-
All the Harley guys I've met have been very nice and friendly down to earth guys and generally a good time to hang around with.

However, I've got to disagree with you somewhat on their respect of other people's rides. In my younger days I used to ride a motorcycle (a jap bike) quite frequently and, as is the proper etiquette, I would wave to all bikers who passed me going in the opposite direction. In all the times that I waved to people, there was one group that would consistently (99% of the time) never wave back to me and that was the Harley guys- I guess they couldn't wave to a guy on a jap bike.

Clois, you got to love those warm summer nights

Chaplin: As a Harley rider myself, I will always wave at whomever waves to me first; I also acknowledge all other bikers as well, sometimes with a nod of the head, or a slight wave of the hand.

I will get good mileage out of this one:

My favorite biker T-shirt is the one guys wear that says, " If you can read this, the b!tch fell off".

I am getting ready to go do some PRE-HEAT cruisin and I am wearing the shirt I bought at my last road race, it reads:

"IF SPEED KILLS, your looking at a Dead Man"

Mike:

Yes. I Know. In my Ducati days they never waved to me.

Now that I ride a Harley they wave. I wave to everyone.

There are motorcycle riders and then there are motorcycle riders.

The other day I was on the way home from work in the Cobra. I usually drive a lttle faster than the average person and I came up behind a bunch of bikers. Often, Harley groups will move over a little to let me by. But these 6 guys were not even aware I was there, nor cared. They were all wearing "Mongols" jackets. Now I've seen a lot of "Hell's Angels" here in SoCal, but these guys looked like your worst biker nightmare. I just stayed out of the way until they turned off.

Later, on TV, there was a story about the feud between the two gangs and they ran down the list of members who had been killed so far. Makes me kinda glad I didn't use the horn!

Speaking of bikers;

Back in the late 70's, I drove with a buddy and his girl friend to Los Angeles (32 hours) to pick up a jet boat he had bought. We drove staight thru both ways (never again),he drove during the day and I drove at night... We stopped on the way back somewhere in Arizona for gas and the bathroom around 2 am. While I was gassing up the car about 20 Hells Angels guys come into the same station along with a van and a trailer with about 3 or 4 old parts bikes on it.... The girlfreind woke up when the bikes drove up and quickly locked all the doors and hid down on the back seat. I was standing there like a goony bird gassing up the car just wondering if we would get out of there in one piece... To my suprise, most of the guys came by and looked over the new boat and said how beautiful it was and wanted to know how fast it would go,told them I do not know as it has never been in the water....

They looked real nasty, but were real nice....I must say....

Not all bikers are bad,but we just had a double murder less than 30 miles from here between to biker gangs....
