Mr. KobraKarl:
From what people have said, the Cav Cobra is being sold at cost (due to it's high quality and accuracy it cost more than a SPF to build according to Shelby sources). If this is not true (the car being sold at "cost") , don't they call misleading statements a "lie"? |
Bandit ,,
I think the term is "Salemanship"..:) KK And who are you callin MR. :D |
I wonder if the components in these cars are the same as the CSX4000 series out of SAI in Las Vegas. Where and on what parts has the savings been made to produce them at a lower cost? Guess we will have to see how this plays out.

75 retailed in one weekend? That would be a lot AT WHOLESALE! (What is their annual volume?) What's "the rest of the story?"
Now that CS is re-joining the Ford family what do you suppose will happen to his ties to CAV, et al? My guess is that it will not be too different from Cunningham's experience when Lutz joined GM. Since history is written by the survivors, I expect that we will be treated to yet another definition of what constitutes a "real" Cobra/Daytona Coupe/GT-40. The weekend fire sale may be nothing more than "insider trading" before the inventory values reflect CS' new Cobra realities. |
The alloy cars are in a whole different league. My guess is the impact of the Shelby glass cars on the value of the metal cars is nominal. A different set of buyers as well. There all good, just depends on what you want.

75 sales during the weekend?
All because they are so cheap? I doubt it seriously that there are 75 new customers world wide for Cobras during ANY weekend. Shelby and others combined. To think that these are all new comers with no trade ins. First time buyers if you will.... I doubt it. I seriously doubt it. If those numbers were true that would equal to Shelby's current annual sales.. Assuming these 75 people have roughy 30-40 trade-ins THEMSELVES (most likely other makes of Cobras) they would have to sell their cars to buy a new Shelby Cobra. What do you think they are planning on doing with THEIR cobras. Who will they sell theirs to , for how much? We all know how long it takes to sell a Cobra in this market. Also assuming the new customers would be trading in their ERAs,SPF's, FFR, Kirkhams to buy a CAV/Shelby what do you think they will bring on EBAY. Sometimes we panic too soon and hope for the worst. I am an optimist on this one. My guess is the market will absorb the new comer just fine without turning it upside down. Other manufacturers may pay a little price because of the new entry. ERA will have 11 months of wait instead of 13, FFR may be able catch up with back orders, SPF may concentrate on the Coupe and make up for the lost revenue. They'll be just fine. Even the Road Serpents may make a come back. Just relax and breath deeply. TURK |
Whooooooo, are you?
No one caught the "Hiss" post ?
4th post?.....no profile?, ......no pic's? no way! Eric :MECOOL: |
I did, and 4 out of 4 posts are Shelby related topics.
|
I'll take Hisss at face value for now. He explained his position in a later post. Time will tell how accurate the information is.

anyway...........
It will be interesting to see how this effects the Cobra market for sure.
Will people want a "Shelby Car", if it is only "rubber stamped"? Will people pay more for a Vegas Shelby Car, if there is a cheaper way to go? Will this impact the sales of other brands? Have to see, as always. Eric :MECOOL: |
Get Real
One person makes a post........... and everyone believes it? You all are posting as if this person states the truth. Maybe so, maybe not. He states that he hears from a source within the Shelby organization. Give us your source or lets here from the "horse's mouth." How about one of those 75 buyers? For sure one of them must be a CC member?
I personally do not believe it. I agree with Turks prior post..... there is no way I believe that there are 75 qualified Cobra buyers in one weekend at one event. If wrong, I will be the first to admit so. Be Safe in Your Snakes, Mike |
Confusion......for sure. Good point Eric. Just what is a Shelby car? One that he has agreed to put his name on. One the convicts built? One he got from Kirkham? One he got from, maybe, CAV.
Are we to believe that 75 people were walking around just waiting to plunk down their deposits for mr Shelby's car that might really come from???? Most people don't make a decision at a show, they shop and finalize the sale later. It just never stops. I heard he sold 200 Guitars, and is finalizing the Shelby pocket fisherman in a limited edition signed and numbered for only $500 each, but wait he'll throw in a free vegamatic, and the perfect pancake maker. JEEEEEZZZZ**)  **) |
M&M, it's obvious to me that "not everyone believes it", it's an on going debate. Thanks for weighing in.
Seldom is something black or white (or in my world one or zero). Time will tell what it all means (7.5 or 75?). Meanwhile, I'm trying to give a new guy a "break" (you know, BEFORE we eat him alive, lol). Ernie EDIT: Dream Master, If YOU had that kind of marketing power associated with your name, heck yeah, you'd be out there "hawking" stuff to! I know I would be. |
What's Next
I would buy his formula for staying lucid and remaining motivated to kick @SS financially after lots of health isuues.
I am sure there are a buch of 81 yr olds that would rather stay in bed no less get draged to car shows and race tacks all over the world in 95 degree heat. Turning anger into dollars is not such a terrible thing. |
FLUSH...some are floaters and some are sinkers, but either way the '75 sales in 2 days' is a stinker sinker...FLUSH....bill.
|
speculation.....
how many SAI dealers ?........if I was an SAI dealer and I knew this deal was in the pipe ..how many would I be willing to speak for ??....That could account for a few dozen.. Just a thought , however half baked KK |
I don't think Superformance has anything to worry about. Their dealers like Doug and Ron have spoiled their customers with service they couldn't get anywhere else. That and SPF's reputation is worth a lot. It does give SAI something to shoot for though!
|
Hmmm...Presumably these new cars will still be "real" Cobras, no? So will the previous cars be "real real" Cobras? Or, perhaps "REAL" Cobras? I mean, won't (at least some of) the owners of the more expensive Shelby Cobras want to differentiate between their cars and the less expensive Shelby Cobras?  ;)
|
Of course, heck thats human nature. Like you never had a thought about how your SPF compared to say my Excalibur?
Of course, I do feel a little bummed you had to pay much more for a Cobra with far less room than I've got. But hey, you can still park next to me. Ha ha. Ernie |
