Cobra historical info - sources?
I did some searches, didn't really find an answer specific to paint schemes:
I've been lurking for over a year, now have the green light to purchase, but I am interested in learning some historical info about the Cobra first. Specifically, I'm looking for info about paint schemes, FIA and 427S/C.
I see Guardsman Blue with White stripes (my personal favorite) but also all black, all silver, etc. Where can I learn what was historically accurate? (hey, if I'm going to plunk down my $$, I want to decide how accurate I will be if possible).
Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Admiral Hi I would try Rich Kopec at SAAC He has most of the info you are looking for. Cal Metal and Mr. Evans would also have some info on this too. Rick Lake

Search the Shelby and Racing section part of the Forum. There is a lot of info over there, including original paint schemes.

A debate broke out the other day about there were no yellow Cobras. But it seems to me that C.S. painted the FIRST Cobra like 4 times, 4 different colors showing it to 4 different sets of people. Ha ha, gotta love the "salesman" in him.
Anyway, wasn't ONE of those colors yellow? When you find out, let us know!

Shelby's first Cobra was originally shown unpainted, then painted a wonderful bright yellow (moon yellow for those who knew Dean Moons penchant for the color yellow)......Then it was painted red, then blue, which I believe is the color it is currently painted (someone who has seen it recently can point out if this is correct or not.......................

CSX 2427's yellow was a request from the owners to match their tow car which was a '63 (I think) T-Bird. While not on the factory score card as a choice, it was, nevertheless, painted at SAI before delivery.
BTW, the Dean Moon yellow found on the first car was actually painted by Dean Jeffries not Dean Moon.

Like so many things about the Cobra "specs" the rules can get fuzzy. The more I look the more apparent it becomes, they were individual cars in a lot of different and subtle ways.
Kinda like many of the re-creations we see in here!
