Pam Andeson, Nicole Kidman, Britney Spears, Raquel Welch (as she was in the 1960s - this is a site about cars which appear today in their 1960s condition after all) and Selma Hyak. All different, all seem to me that they would be pretty much fun. Not a bad choice in the group. Different pluses, different minuses. I think in each case, like the cars of this thread, the pluses outweigh the minuses. I would be happy driving any of them. (of course, I am referring to the cars. )

Thumbs up Chics LI

....you got it! Except, I think the weather isn't the thing that's "crappy". I got a whiff o' the pampas as soon as I read the 930 techno-fact boo-boo. Why would anyone race a sh*t-hot vintage Mustang and THEN go for a 4000-lb steroid-commuter. The whole kick-off to this thread reminded me of the old Pommy adage: "It is better to remain silent and be presumed a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt"!!! How 'come we get no data on where these races with the Mustang occur? Or what type of build the slower-than-an-M5 cobra was.... Bovung, followed by Divine Retribution. You guys are a riot!

Porsche930? At first I though it was Turk logging in with a different screen name just to bust everyone's balls. But then Turk responds. Turk, are you posting under different names just so you can argue with yourself?

Is this that "Vette" guy that post here once in a while, to get peoples heart rate up with his nonsence? Traded the Vette in on a 930 maybe??
I have a 540I Sport with Dinan upgrades (almost 400HP) -(930Turbo, you can get rid of that 155 mph cut off with a Dinan chip), and every Cobra I've come across or have driven would dust the Bimmer. Who built your Cobra? ....Your mama??
Aren't there some BMW or Porsche forums you can have some fun at............or have you been kicked out of those?
........alright Turk, fess up. This is YOU isn't it.

Someone who sells a Cobra for an M5 just doesn't get it. When a young punk in a rice rocket Honda drives circles around your M5 you will notice then that you paid 3 times more than he did and the car just doesn't stand out like a Cobra. Go to any car show with your M5 or Porsche and see how many girls you can attract compared to a Cobra. The Cobra is a chick-magnet before starting the engine, 'nuff said

Look, this uber dude's an a$$hole, but look beyond that. Most of us own or have driven something that is a better delivery system for attaining speed than our Cobras.

Artificial insemination is also a more efficient way of fertilization, but isn't good ol phucking a hell'uv alot more fun?

A "best of everything kit" ??? I wonder what that means?

Who put it together? etc. etc. etc.

Ferraris
Vipers
Porsches
TT Supras
BMW's
GT-350's (no offence)
GT-500's (no offence)
you name it

One word describes them all "underwhelming." Nothing like stepping on the throttle and wondering when anything is going to happen. Step on a Cobra throttle too hard and it's time to change the seat covers...

I have been chased down by Hondas, minivans, Cameros, Allards, pick up trucks, you name it. Nothing but thumbs up from all of them. I even have had all the neighborhood kids RUN up to my house when they hear me coming home. They LINE UP in my driveway and wait for me to finish dinner so they could all get a ride. When is the last time that happened to any of us in one of those "underwhelming" boxes?" How many of your neighbors have asked for a ride in your tin can? ALL of my neighbors have.

I want everyone to know once and for all--I have driven A LOT of cars and I have only driven ONE thing faster than KMP046...

KMP275

I can see this guy NEEDS a RIDE up Squaw Peak...(Just ask Jamo.)

930 Turbo,is it possible you are feeling the tremendous loss that comes from selling the machine like no other?Reading between the lines,I can see you really want to do it.Just start chanting"Cobra,Cobra,Cobra...Placing a tape under the bed while you sleep will subliminally get you over the hump, and you can truly join the "Elite" again(it won't hurt at all!)

930, your right: porsche and bmw are better cars, more power (sometimes), better handling, more safety, lower gas consumption (which you forgot to mention), but who the phuck cares? Porsche is for wimps, over here we call'em weak eggs. Cobras separate the men form the boys.

About a month ago, I was driving home from a Shelby show in Lime Rock CT. While driving down rte 118 a group of 4 M5s speed past me at 90 to 110 MPH. I watched them weave in and out of traffic till I couldn't see them anymore. About a minute later, I see them all slowing down so I could catch up to them. Before I know it I am surrounded by these yahoos. When, all of a sudden, they're baiting me to race(60 to 100 type of thing) so I see this guy looking at me with these big round eyes, like he's going 150 MPH and he punched it. It's an automatic(incorrect) and I hear the engine rev to 5000 to 6000 RPM...I'm still going 60 and this guy is not moving, not pulling on me ( I'm not racing mind you, I am just looking and listening to this Jackass) His face is all lit up like hes going down the straight at 160MPH. This seemed to last for 2 or 3 seconds until finally he started to slowly pull ahead. I could have just blipped the throttle and broke the rear tires loose leaving him in the dust, but in that split second, I realized that.... A.The M5 is a POS...B. I will never own one.....And C. all those Jackasses were Mommas Boys, why waste the gas.

Uber now that you've stepped in it how you gonna get the $hit off your penny loafers. Where I live I am surrounded by goobers like you, I see them trying to eyeball my Cobra while looking straight ahead, while the wife cranes her neck trying to get a better look.

Go wax it and send your other half over here with the real studs, we will treat her well. You can hang with the bimmer / porsche dwebs and bench race till the cows come home.

Default Better is relative...

"Better car" is a relative term in my opinion. The M5 is an awesome car but I have to agree that it and the Porsche don't get as many "about face's" as do the Cobra's. Secondly, a proplerly built Cobra like that of many of the builders (JBL at www.jblmotor.com or HDR at www.hdrcoupe.com) with all of it's finely finished detail will awe the best of drivers not only in performance but in looks in detail, fit and finish as well. Just look at the pics at either of these two sites and anyone that is the slightest "gearhead" will be saying, "Holy Sh!t"!

The bottom line, for me at least, is knowing that I can work on a cobra. I couldn't tell you what hoses are what in a new car of any type. At least I don't get robbed for a $400 tune up at the dealership. I pull out the plugs and tweak the carb with a screwdriver and just listen for the proper song.

Buon Apetito' on any of these vehicles though and welcome to the forum.

Your friend......and mine!

Still here in spirit....

BlueRooster,

I don't know what you saw, but there has never been an automatic M5.

BMWs and Porsches are great cars -- they need not be attacked here. Uber, however, really asked for it.

He must have down shifted into 2nd or third then, cause the engine was screaming but the car was not movin'. Anyway, the thing was a dog no matter what tranny was in it. Sorry for the ignorance, I'm not a big fan of the M5.

I hope you dont think I was putting both the cars down. I love ALL Porsche cars. I was just stating what happened to me on a highway one day. The M5 SEEMED to be a dog and the driver SEEMED to be a yahoo...no more, no less.

Thumbs up Uber........

...from "Uber" to "Unter" in one thread! You are now an official "post-toastie"!---others will relish the tsunami of fecal matter which came your way. Still others might accuse you of prevarication....I shall do neither! However, you should pay attention to the hard-core CC-ers' reference to which car gets the acknowledgement and raves....scarcity produces value, as we all know. Therefore, I must congratulate you on one thing...threads like yours are lamentably RARE! And valuable! Sincerely, I wish there were more like yours. Bonchance..and keep racing that 'Stang!!! We'd love to see shome shots of that! Sounds cool. :

PS: Bt the way, Porsche DID make a front-wheel drive race-car, based on the Trabanrt---it was called the "Stercum Tauri". Quite quick for 43 hp!!!
