What color blue is this car?

I've been telling everyone this is guardsman blue but now I think it might be viking blue. Bottom line I want to paint my car _this color_ what do you all suppose it is?

Thanks, Chuck

The car is CSX3111 and the color is Ford Sapphire Blue

chuckbrandt 10-06-2003 01:31 PM

Thanks Ron

Do you know what paint codes or year to look it up?

Thank you, Chuck

computerworks 10-06-2003 01:40 PM

See if you can look at PPG 13075. (double check that).

I believe it was a 1966 T-Bird color

I am pretty sure this car has been on E-bay a couple of times lately.

Anyway since my Contemporary is a street version I have been considering painting it this color since the first time I saw this picture on E-BAY. It certainly is a beautiful car. Now I don't have to do as much research:D

Have a good one,
Dan

Cracker..thanks... just have a big file of data on these cars.

Scott...Kris took those pictures when the car was at a dealer in SoCal.

CSX3111 was on eBay 09/02 and again in 01/03.

It does show off the really clean street car lines... and it is a very nice blue...
...hmmm, making me re-think the dark blue I was planning.

chuckbrandt 10-06-2003 05:38 PM

Thanks again

I'll go back to my duPont guy and see if we can find it... Sapphire Blue 1966 T-Bird. I'll let you know how that turns out.

Thanks, Chuck

Ron, You have definitely honed in on some nice colors. Just sprayed the frame on my "Chrysler/Ford" in PPG Intense Blue. What a lovely color. The painter said it is a Chrysler color BTW but I have yet to validate the comment. Darn close to what prompted this thread at least via RGB viewfinder I am looking at .;)

sapphire blue

My '66 GT350 was Sapphire Blue, a factory Shelby color. If the T-bird search doesn't pan out, check Shelby paint codes. SAAC may be able to help at www.saac.com.

Paint Store Results

Hi Guys,
This is interesting... Found the 66 T-Bird code G and it looks correct to me. The DuPont store said they didn't have a formula to mix it in the Chroma Base system. But they assured me they could tint it. I had them mix a small bottle of it in enamel so that I could compare. The PPG store had a formula for their DBC Deltron 2000 base clear coat system. So I had them mix me a half pint of it. The interesting thing, but also troublesome, is that they don't exactly match... I'd say they are close but definitely different enough that if you painted different parts of the same car you'd notice it. The PPG is just a little darker. This is from looking at 2 dabs on a piece of paper, I should spray a fender or something bigger with each and decide.

But thanks again for the codes, I do believe that is both the color I want and the color on CSX 3111, good job everyone you guys are great :)

Thanks, Chuck

Here is a link to my laguna blue 66 Corvette so you can see just how it looks. This is a wierd color, sometimes it looks purple other times it looks green.

Well thats a great looking car but the color is nothing like the Laguna blue on my car and I am looking at the paint code named Laguna Blue and have no explination of delta. See attached photo and tell me what you think.
