Cobra Rental
Hi, I have always wanted a Shelby Cobra, but don't have the funds to buy or build one now. I am getting married in a year, and my fiance suggested that we rent a Cobra to make our getaway in. I have searched for something around Houston, but can't find any. The wedding will be in Independence, Texas. If anyone knows someone that would be willing to rent a Cobra for the weekend next September, please let me know.

Switch the wedding to Hawaii. You can rent anything there.

I've seen Cobra rentals on Maui, Hawaii, as well as in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Congratulations on your engagement. My wife and I rented a Jaguar for our getaway car. That was pretty sweet, and readily available at Dollar (I think that's who we used).

I don't think you'll find anybody willing to rent their "Pride and Joy" out. Even if you know the person personally.
Aside from the fact that it is someone ride, the liability would be incredible.
Please keep in mind that these are not normal cars. The power to weight ratio alone could get anyone in trouble. Make one bad mistake and it will be a very quick honeymoon.
How about a nice Bentley instead. Get a driver and enjoy the trip in style in the backseat.

p.s. Congratulations on your wedding.

Well its unfortunate but the company that did rent them down outside of Austin is no longer in business. There are still available in Vegas I believe.
For getting a car from a person that has one I can tell you and this is Aggie to Aggie here....NO WAY IN HELL...I wasn't ready for this car in College and the liability would be way to high..
Have fun and enjoy the wedding..

Thanks for the quick replies. I know that if I had my own Cobra that I wouldn't let it out of my sight either. I was just hoping that there was a company in Texas that might have some replicas. Well, I guess I will have to get a lesser car.

Give me a call. I'm in Altus, OK just 10 miles north of Texas. She goes for around $40,000 for the first hour, unlimited miles, comes with a full tank of fuel and I offer a drop off service.

Don't let all this discourage you. Look on the internet for exotic car rentals in your area. We have some around here. Don't know if they have Cobras, but they have all kinds of other cars.
Yes, they are still available for rent in Vegas. My wife and I were there last month, and there were two places that had a Cobra. Both were equipped with a 302. One looked pretty whipped. Price was about $350 per day if I remember. You got 100 free miles, then it was $1 per mile after that.

Ernie,
What is the deal with no rentals anymore on Maui? My wife and I have a condo on Kaanapali and could always rent one there but when we went in May there were none to be had. Had to spend the week in a Mitsu........... Guess I'll have to get a bigger suitcase..

The wind will mess up your bride's hair anyway.
