Default Battery Mounting

Anyone with any good suggestion on mounting an Optima battery in a Unique 427. Battery case,mounting position, not wanting to let it set on the fiberglass behind the rear wheelwell.
Thanks in advance;

Richard,

I am not sure about the Unique trunk shape as I have a CR, but I have had my optima battery mounted behind the right wheel well since 1997. My trunk is carpeted and I have two small hooks bolted through the carpet and use two nylon straps that go through the hoops and over the battery and just cinch them down. I have never had a problem and I use the side terminals as I could bring the cables up and they are not visible. I also got the top posts as I keep a small battery tender on it during the Winter and I don't have to unhook the straps and move the battery out to get to the sdie terminals. When I am driving I put the two small plastic covers on the top posts.

I'm also going to use an optima battery, but will mount it in a billit mount which includes a tray for it to sit in.

I have the Optima in my Unique and had alot of trouble finding room for a battery box behind the left rear wheel well. I found a battery mount at Boat U.S. that clamps over the battery and has a base plate made of plastic to protect the car. Works great but may not be adequate for racing purposes.

Thanks for the replies, do you have the battery setting on the fiberglass with no additional support under it? The Optima comes with a plastic tray for under and over the battery that I will use. I was afraid the weigth might cause cracking the the paint on the outside of the body.

Do a google search on billet battery optima and you will come up with different options, I think I'm going to use this one

I never considered the fibreglass stressing out. I just got a regular plastic tray/holddown from autozone and bolted it to the floor. I would ask Alan if there has ever been a problem. I would assume thats where everyone puts it?
