I'll preface this with the fact that I am such a dork sometimes.....
Yup, yesterday I picked up a hell of a lot of extra ponies with just a little modification.....Are you curious yet??? It's really cool!!! Try making sure your gas pedal travel is sufficient to open the carb all the way up! DUH!!!! I thought the car had good ooomph, but I wasn't incredibly impressed.....Started thinking about stuff more and just looking at things....I look to make sure that my adjustment on the pedal linkage is correct, and whouldn't you know it, it was catching on top of a piece of my aluminum work as it travelled. From a pedal feel perspective, it felt like I was bottoming out solidly, so I just didn't notice that the lever was catching on it. Oooopss.... Romped on it a little yesterday, and oooooboooooyyyyyy a whole new toy! Was only 3/4 throdle max before. :JEKYLHYDE |

Wait till you free up the linkage so you can shift to 4th gear.

Hey boys, I'm going to try & use a turkey pan, whose rigid throttle linkage works best with the pan ? (I now have a Lokar cable) I wrote to "Kirkham" for advice & price but as of yet, no responce. Any advice ?

I can't remember the last time I put my foot all the way to the floor (isn't really necessary). Oftentimes, only 1/2 or 3/4 throttle is enough to achieve my "objective" (whatever that may be **) ). Oh and Brent... you're not the only one. This also happened to Toy Collector. |
This is a topic near and dear to my heart. Thanks for letting everyone know Keith :D :D . My old SPF was an early car and the pivot arm that attaches to the throttle pedal would evenually loosen and slip ever so slowly result in situation above. Easily fixed with a drill and a roll pin, but an interesting one to diagnose. If a car ever feels underpowered, and all else seems normal (noise, temps, no leaks) this is the first thing I check. this post is also timely as I just did the linkage on my KMP yesterday with GeorgiaSnake in attendance. TURK/JAMO, not sure which of your cars it was I took close-ups of at DVSF of your linkage, but it came in handy.

That was a VERY temporary setup to get past the normal SCCA "two return spring" rule (evidently relaxed at OSU from what I saw) because I ran the autocross at the Fling. Course, I also had a helmet at the airport until I saw nobody else was wearing theirs. I now have a proper dual return spring (one inside the other) I got from Summit. I always suggest dual return springs on or off the track. Recall that car was finished just before the Fling and came to me with one spring. The spring mount came from Provo. |

Just on a whim I checked my throttle last week and found out I was shorting myself about an inch of throttle travel on both carbs. That was an easy fix now the wife tells me to fix my other shortness I have no idea what she is talking about. |

Here is a photo of my engine bay with a homemade linkage using 1/4" stainless rod and several Heim ends. This type of linkage is easy to fabricate and should work very well with a turkey pan.
By the way, the engine is a 351W, not a 427FE.
