as i have gotten older, i don't pay much attention when i cannot please someone. I get asked all the usual questions, but can' t really recall but one rude thing ever said to me. I don't question passerby motives, i just smile and try to give the most accurate answer i can come up with.

Once, at a car show, (my first and only one), a lady walked up to me, with her child in tow, and told me "this is why it costs so much to see you", and walked off.

Packed up and left then and there, never been to another car show.

By the way, about 8-9 years ago, i was passing thru DeMoines, at a gas station there was this Replica refueling, and i walked over, being fascintated by what i so seldom saw, and started to ask a simple question, and right away the guy implied i was unworthy of any answer, just snorted and grumpily got in and drove away. When someone asks me a question, i sometimes recall that Replica Jerk Driver, and try to do better.

Strange, I never heard that as the first question. Not that my car ist so ugly. I was raised - and I think most europeans are - in the way that NUKE427 mentioned, money is privat and not of anyone elses concern. The question "how much do you make" is unthinkable, even among friends. They almost everytime start with "is it real?". Also this goes on your nerves, I understand that people are curious and that a "real" Shelby is a very rare sight, and I almost answer "yes, but not a Shelby". Its the real thing anyway, aint it? You recognize very soon, if there is just some a$$ or if he or she - yes, there are a lot of females among them - shares the love. Of course they often ask how much it cost, sometimes later in the discussion. Also I never tell them how much I have in mine, I assume they want to know how much to spent for one, and I tell them the range, and what to look for. As someone mentioned before, this car draws a lot of attention, and you have to deal with it.

Lately, I drove by an italian restaurant where the waiter stood in the door, and as I passed by, he tried hard to be louder than my pipes, shouting: "where is the blonde?"

I have to apologize then for my lack of a "sense of humor" but my wifes "moneymaker" is a serious business.

Turk: I dont think I had my morning coffee yet..no, no I meant I already had too much coffee;thats what it was.
