One for the Wife and Kids
While recently on a cruise with some of the guys from the TriState Cobra Club I was explaining how fortunate I was that my wife, Yvonne & my kids, Mat and Anthony helped me build my Cobra. I was urged by one of the guys to post something here acknowledging the wife & kids. So here goes:
I just finished building my kit and it involved countless hours in my shop away from the wife & kids. It got to the point that breakfasts, lunches, and dinners were brought to me in the shop.
Unlike some guys I was quite fortunate. I have heard some guys tell of how the Mrs. always complained about, "You're spending too much darn time with that car". or, "What about me? All you think and talk about is that car" (Sound familiar?). Well as I said I was fortunate as my wife becamme just as interested and enthused as I was about building the kit. In fact, she even became my second wrench. My sons of 23 & 16 also pitched in whenever it didn't interfere with their studies.
I learned that building a Cobra, although an adventure, is not a simple task. It is a path that can be filled with many obstacles to overcome, disappointments, and sometimes it can get somewhat discouraging. Anyone who goes it alone has to be prepared to accept the challenge ahead.
Even though my wife & kids did help me, there were many times that they were not up to the task.
I would like to take a moment and offer praise to them for all of confidence that they had in me, and all of the encouragement that they provided to me. Most of all, I thank them for the perserverance they had to endure through the time that I did have to take away from them.
I thank God that I was fortunate enough to at least for some of the build time to have been able to make it a family venture. Nonetheless, I owe a deep and huge amount of gratitude to them.
Thanks to my Wife & Kids I can now say that we are the proud owners of a Cobra.
I also extend these words of thanks to all the other spouses and kids who have helped so many of you other members accomplish your dreams.
Let's all give thanks to those who have helped make our dreams come true.
Your NY Cobra Friend,
Tony
