Question Oval Air Cleaner ( Pro's&Con's) WTD

Hello...
I'm looking to buy an Oval air cleaner for my SPF.The thing is this , i heard that even if i use a K&N or a Green Filter , the engine is going to starve for air , is this true ?
And does anyone know where the best price is for an Unfinished , natural Oval Cobra Air cleaner is at ?
Thanks,
Frank Generazio - SP086

I just improved the air flow by going to an oval air filter. The bad part was I had to have the scoop modified by DV in order to accomidate the 3" element. I would have to have modified the scoop even if the element was smaller. I have a 1000cfm throttle body built by John Bennett himself. He specifically told me to go with a K & N element in the air filter. I figure he wouldn't be the engine builder he is without knowing what he is talking about. I found Summit racing to have the best price on a oval air cleaner with filter even has the cobra in raised letters on it (same price at Jegs). Let me know what you decide. I know I have seen them on several guys cars and they add a nice finished touch to the car.

I cut and dropped the base on mine. Then I called K+N and got a 3" filter for it. It is rated at 945 CFM and is what is needed for a 750 CFM carb. K+N said you need 120%-140% of your carb CFM. I bought mine used so don't know what a good price is.

I also have the large oval Cobra air cleaner with the 3 inch K & N element on my 427 stroker in a SPF 1543. The base was dropped to provide the necessary room to also run a 1 inch carburetor spacer plate.........
