How many miles do you put on your cobras a year?
As i think about buying a Daytona coupe i'm wondering how driveable it will be. Obviously this will not be an only vehicle, but i would like something that isn't too much of a pain in the ass.
the two main candidates for me are Cobra vs. the Lotus Elise. The Elise is far from practical obviously, but i'm trying to gauge how much more impractical the cobra would be. I figure i would probably put about 2-4000 street cruising miles on the Elise as well as considerable track days and canyon slamming duties. This is all taking place in southern cal by the way. Anyway, just wondering how much use you get and if you think i'll be happy given my situation |
I put on around 800 miles. We had a wet summer here in the northeast and I didn't get it on the road until the end of June. Will probably put a couple thousand a year on.

Miles
I put ten thousand miles in the first year...:D
|
In the 2 years that I have had my car, I've put about 1400 miles on it...RR
|
I've put on 10,000 miles the first 18 months.... In upstate NY that means a lot of seat time in not so perfect weather - rain, cold, ect.
I am currently having the hydraulic throwout bearing clutch release changed over to a slave cylinder setup, then hope to spend even more time behind the wheel (bearing leaks). I drive to work, take business trips with it.... It is a BLAST to drive!!! Jim |
24K in almost 3 years.

The previous owner of my car put on 8,400 miles in 11 years or about 770 miles per year. I have racked up about 800 miles in about 3 months (Sept to Now). However, here in New England, I expect that for the next 5 months, usage will be limited at best.

6,000 miles a year is what my insurance allows me to travel...will have to ask how much for unlimited miles!
|
2200 miles in 6 drivable months...
|
10K miles in 9 months, although I've hardly driven it for the last three months. I think today may very well have been the last time out until next March or April.
 |
Over 65,000 in my SPF in a bit less than four years, i live in SC, so i can and do drive it every day. How nice it would be to have a Brock Coupe.

In fact, put a few miles on the car today. Wore shorts and a T shirt. 70', and barely a cloud in the sky. Say what you will about California, (and I know you will!!), but you cant beat the weather!! Even gots a hammock strung up in the back yard, for days like today.

About 10,000 in 18 months. Haven't been driving it much lately.

A little off topic, but one factor in your decision between the Cobra and a Lotus maybe how hard it is to register the Cobra in California.
I know nothing about this, but the question has been raised in a number of forums here at Club Cobra. I can't say whether the issue is a 'new' purchase vs buying an already registered car or if it applies to any sales/registration of a Cobra. To get back on topic, I put on about 4000 miles/yr here in sunny Cleveland Ohio. - Dan |
