Turk will be stepping down as moderator at Club Cobra

I regretfully inform the club that Turk, after a long tenure as a moderator at Club Cobra (he and Computerworks have shared duties over the same period of time), has decided to step down from his role as moderator at Club Cobra.

For those who know or don't know, a moderator's role is often challenging, thankless, and controversial, which Turk handled without complaint. He has provided a lot to this club and has helped countless folks during his tour of duty. :) For those few who may be happy about his decision to step down (I know there’s a couple of you -- probably the Semko's  ), I hope you fully comprehend the tough situations he and Computerworks have had to step into and resolve. For nothing but pride in helping our club, they sacrifice time, and sometimes short-term popularity, to ensure that our community continues to grow and be the greatest Cobra site on the net.

Eventually though, it becomes difficult or impossible to moderate a large and dynamic group such as this, tend to all work/life matters, and thoroughly enjoy being a member/enthusiast, all at the same time. With that said, Turk has promised to be a participant in our club FOREVER. :D

Please help me extend a big thank you to Turk for his efforts!

was it something we did?

I've been amazed at Turks' skill at keeping things from blowing up.

I'm wondering now what Turk will do with all his new free time?

Thanks for your dedication to making this the best site for Cobra lovers!

Tom

Although I am farely new to this forum, I have tremendously enjoyed the cammeraderie and wealth of information exhibited by knowledgable members. Among the forums where valuable experience of owning a Cobra is discussed, I also enjoy CC Lounge where interesting threads and posts have been generated. This shows that we are all the same in enjoying a wonderful car, the Cobra, yet our views and opinions vary from member to member. In those threads, TURK has shined in his responses and moderations of controversial topics where it may have been going out of control with his natural wisdom, talent and intelligence exhibited in his posts. So I salute you TURK and thank you for the hard work. Like you, I was a legal alien until Y2K when both my wife and I became US citizens. As an American, I enjoy the freedom of speech and the freedom to choose who I prey to and the freedom to drive my Cobra, whenever and wherever I choose. Hope to hear from you as usual in the forums.

Don't let the screen door hit you in the arss on your way out!

Dan Semko 12-05-2003 03:51 AM

After what he did to me with his CSX, he should be deported. I look at "The Zit" each day and think of Turk while looking at the empty space that was once occupied by my beautiful Eurospec'd 930 Turbo that has been "California Modified". Really Turk, the dingle balls and low rider attitude doesn't do that car justice!:D

In all seriousness, I hope the rehab goes well. ;)

McBruce,

A moderators job is truly a thankless one. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I should point out that, unfortunately, Turk is not resigning from the forum... he will continue to post... again, unfortunately.

... he is just turning in his night-shift responsibilites as West Coast moderator.

I think it had something to do with the 'marriage' thread in the Lounge, but I'm not sure. :p

Bumpster 12-05-2003 04:48 AM

Moderator is similar to a ref or umpire in a game. When they do a good job, you hardly notice they are there. Turk did a good job, but it's not that he went unnoticed. He seemed like just another member, posting as usual. He made the job look easy, as anyone who is very proficient would do.

Well done, Turk, and thank you.

Bumpster

Damn I thought Turk was leaving when I opened this thread! Oh well. ;)

Turk, thanks for being the voice of reason for so long:JEKYLHYDE Truly I have learned much from you.

So what sucker, err fine human being is being lined up next for the kill?

Rick

Dan Semko 12-05-2003 05:10 AM

Ron,
I don't think it was ALL the marriage thread, but his new position as CEO of The International Brotherhood of WalMart Greeters and the upcoming Christmas season, certainly will tax a "normal" person let alone a guy of Turk's age.;) He already turned the WalMart toys area into the most lucrative toy resaler in the country, placing Toys R Us and several of the high end New York stores on notice. Imagine those in his current sights!:D

Tom Wells 12-05-2003 05:34 AM

Hey Turk,

Many thanks for all you have contributed!

I hope you'll still pass the hat for Brent occasionally, and most of all, keep your incredible sense of humor going for the board :D

Best,

Tom

One of the few guys here that actually had seen "SHINOLA" therefore in my opinion TURK KNEW $HIT FROM SHINOLA!

Good job Turk...

JWheaton 12-05-2003 05:41 AM

Turk,

Thanks for moderating ME. I feel much better -- NOW -- that you won't do it again! :D :D

To all those who don't get it --- I AM KIDDING!

Turk -- you will be a hard act to follow. We are lucky that we still have Ron in the ring (don't we?)*

Replacing both would be impossible.

Jamie

* - I'm still here...so watch it!....ron :cool:

Ron61 12-05-2003 05:51 AM

Turk

Darn I am going to miss you as moderator and I know it is a thankless job, but for what it means I think you did a great job of balancing the asinine with the ridiculous and keeping the children under some sembalance of control. I will still be looking for your posts and bugging you, especially now that you can't edit mine. LOL . Enjoy the free time and get that CSX going. I am coming down next Spring or Summer and expect at least a cursory ride in it.

Ron :( :)

xlr8or 12-05-2003 06:51 AM

Turk must have decided it would be easier to manage a herd of cats and wanted some time off.

Thanks Turk and Ron.

RedBarchetta 12-05-2003 07:07 AM

I haven't been here long, but Turk sure seemed to do an admirable job.

So, when was his last day, again? I have some unpostables to link up!:D
