Well, I guess I got me a hotrod then! I can't speak for all other kit manufacturers because I haven't owned any other than the Shell Valley that I abuse at the local track on a weekly basis. I can only say the Shell Valley body & chassis can take an awful amount of abuse without faulting. The paint is 4 1/2 yrs old & still looks like it did when I won my first trophy for paint back in 2000. The car leaves the start on 2 wheels & yanks them again in 2nd & 3rd. No stress cracks anywhere so far. I can't imagine anyone mistaking my car for an original but they do(weldwheels were an option back in 65!)As for how I handle the inevitable traffic light question of "Is that real?" my response is 'yeah, real fast'.
My 2cents on the whole CSX issue is: If you weren't gassin it up at the local Sinclair or putting oil in it from jars back in 64 then it aint an original. Oh yeah, If it doesn't have an appraised value of at least $200,000.... "there's only one Batmobile, the rest are replicas"-George Barris "If you're not racin' it, you're wastin' it"-Me |
Neophytes:
I didn't read all the banter here. I just know that Unique Cobras are the best. All the rest are junk! ..... He! He! He! Snicker, Snicker, as I slide out the window and sneak off into the night....%/ Steve |
I think Shelby Dodge Daytona Chargers are "Real" Shelby's and they should be allowed to park beside Evan's "Real" Shelby.
|
Johan,
You mean that crapping in the sandbox isn't politically correct? Damn, then I must have one of those REAL cobras too!:D Hey Evan, I don't care what they say about you, you're still a nice guy in my book and a damn good plumber!;) |
By the Way..............
Mr. REAL1:
ref your quote : "at least in the forseeable future or ever it clearly they clearly are REAL Cobras and in this crowd will constantly be torn down by those who have their own axe to grind whether to perserve the exclusivtivity of their "original" or to feel better about what they have cause its not a Cobra." Geeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............... This may come as a surprise and I doubt you will understand, but there are some of us out here that looked at all the available options (including your beloved REAL Shelbys) and could have just as easily purchased one, but liked something else better. I bought an SPF because I wanted to, not because I had to. I am extremely happy I made the choice I did and I do not have the need to "feel better" because (as you say) it's "not a Cobra". I am also pleased to say my SPF is not the most accurately detailed anything. It's just mine and I love it. The bottom line is the BEST Cobra (replica or otherwise) out there is the one you have the keys to. All the others are just eye candy. When we put ourselves on a pedestal and say things that make us a target, we shouldn't be surprised when people take potshots. BTW: Check with RedCSX who is also posting here at CC. See how happy he is right now with having ordered a Shelby. |
Here is a ranking for all member's cars and makes.
- Your car is number one. Okay, we're done. |

I believe you left out a few: 11.) If you do NOT win first place in the local Dairy Queen car show, argue with the judge (who happens to also operate the soft yogurt machine!) until you are near cardiac arrest or he walks away due to boredom. 12.) Post a placard next to your REAL Cobra on cruise night that states: "Yes, this is a REAL Cobra, see the number?"...but when someone gets too close to read that number you YELL at them for getting too close. 13.) Try to drive your REAL Cobra into the 'restricted area' at the SAAC convention where CSX2000 & CSX3000 cars are being photographed. 14.) Try to convince Fran Kress, Lynn Park and Rob Walton that your REAL Cobra is in the same category as their extensive collection. |
Damn! I think I am actually feeling bad for Evan.------Naaah, must have been heatburn. Evan, you must have one stout derriere
|
This discussion has clearly once again desintergrated to accusations of "your saying yours is better than ours" which I am not saying and the typical knocks and sarcastic comments about winning trophies at the Dairy Queen Cruise night and other ridiculous fabricated comments by the usual individuals you'd expect it from in order to win chuckles from others while putting me down. Typical wisea$$ comments. Thats OK. Just CC as usual.
So the usual rule applies as to Continuation Cobras. (1) Non CSX owners can say whatever they wish as to the CSX.( 2) CSX owners cannot argue or defend the pedigree of their car for fear of being accused of saying with insulting intent "mine is REAL yours is fake". Nuke427: I'm tearing down those who don't have a Shelby? What a crock. Its a newsflash you don't own a REAL Cobra? Is that an insult to you? How is that tearing down your car. Why? Is it because you want a Shelby or you want your non Shelby to have the same status as a Shelby? Sorry it doesn't. Fact. Your full of it. In reality its you and guys like you here that are tearing down the Continuation series by denegrading it as just another replica. In reality its your inferiority complex about your car, not your car thats the problem. Yet you and guys like you try to turn it around and argue that its a superiority complex on my part or any CSX Continuation owner who dares to say their Cobra is a genuine Cobra thats causing the problem and how its somehow an insult to your car. How dare we! Hey if saying mine is a REAL Cobra is an insult to your car, get used to it cause those are the facts. I intend no insult by saying it but thats just what it is. So while I wouldn't try to have my car photographed in a group photo of CSX2000 & 3000's at a SAAC event or try to convince those such as Lynn Park or Mr. Walton that my car belongs in the same class as some of their truly beautiful originals and historically important cars I would happily say to them that the Continuation Series Cobra is a genuine Shelby Cobra and deserves to be recognized appropriately as a Cobra. No problem. I don't care who they are. While 4000's are not photographed with the originals at SAAC events or shows they are definitely segragated from non Shelbys and put together with other Continuation Series Cobras. Non Cobras are not allowed in with them. Fact. CSX envy has again reared it ugly head. P.S. Dan: Thanks for your support. ;) |
I'm curious Evan, were you a Ranger?
|
Joe: No. But my father was in WWII. N.Africa, Sicily, Anzio, Southern France to the west boarder with Germany. Shot in the battle of the Rhine River.
|
Geeeeeeeezzzzzzzz.............
"CSX Envy"?
ROTFLMAO:LOL:      I wouldn't buy an ORIGINAL Shelby Cobra even if I could. If I were to inherit one, I'd sell it. So, if I don't envy the guys who own the originals, why would I envy someone who owns a replica of an original that just happens to be made by the guy who made the originals? When we accuse others of envy, we do so to stroke our own ego. I'm outta' here.............. |
Ok, maybe that was a little harsh.
Let me clarify. Many CSX detractors have CSX envy. Not all. CSX envy is still a terrible thing. Can't we go to BB vs. SB or something??? |
Aaaahhhh!
Reminds me of highschool.....the only difference is then it was a bunch of stupid kids and was expected and considered to be part of growing up. Here it is a bunch of so called adults and is stupid and pathetic :o Its like the kids at a zoo poking some animal in a cage with a stick. Why do they do it? Boredom, lack of respect, just plain meaness or because the animal keeps biting at the stick. Who Knows but I just sit and shake my head at them too. Almost makes me want to leave the chevy motor in my car . Have a good one, Dan |
GOOD GAWD - - - MY HEAD HURTS !!!
I'M GONNA GO GET A BOTTLE OF RAKI AND SOME ASPIRIN. (THE ASPIRIN IS A SORT OF "PRE-EMPTIVE STRIKE"). JOHAN & JOHN Mc - - - - ILL BE LAUGHING ALL NIGHT - THANKS. EVAN - - - -LIGHTEN UP, IT'S NOT YOUR CAR THEY'RE MAD AT. IT'S YOU. Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY. BLACKJACK |
BLACKJACK: THANKS THAT MAKES ME FEEL BETTER!
FUNNY THING THOUGH BECAUSE ITS NOT THEIR CAR THAT I'M MAD AT EITHER, IT'S THEM. ;) P.S. HOW'S THE GT40? GARY WAS CURIOUS. REGARDS. |
Best Wishes!
Thank you. Your qualification is accepted.
I think most realize you have a REAL Shelby Cobra. It's just the way you promote it (and there's nothing wrong with cheerleading your marque). You give the impression that by being a REAL Shelby, it's therefore better than all the rest. I am not that knowledgable, but I'm not aware of any independent (objective) comparison that rated Sheby "Continuation Series" better than all the rest. I have found the quickest way to incur the wrath of other Cobra hobbyists, is to say (or even infer) that your car is better than theirs. We all take fierce pride in what we own. Best wishes for the holidays, |
GOOD LAWD ALMITEE!!!!
....I merely add to what Johan has clearly laid out and the first thing I am accused of is Evan bashing...by Evan himself. Good Lord man....where in the world was your name mentioned??? You must feel guilty about something! I haven't posted here in 6 months and as soon as I do, you accuse me of being the regular person responsible for bashing you. I believe at least a hundred or more other individuals have done just fine in that department for the past 6 months. If I have CSX ENVY...than you sir, are guilty of having a CSX identity crisis!!!! Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!!!! |
Chuckle, chuckle!
This is too easy. |
At the gas station the other day a very enthusiastic dude asked "is it original"
What is REAL1 gonna say to that one?;) |
