Styling Ques in new Ford Cobra

What styling ques from the original Cobra do you see in the new Cobra?

For example:

single round headlights

289 FIA doors
289 FIA hood scoop
289 FIA oil cooler opening
289 radiator opening
427 late street car tail lights

Shelby standing next to it.

TerribleTed13 01-05-2004 09:53 AM

A 2 seater roadster.

Rear quarters after being flattened by a semi!

Ladies and Gentlemen I give you the new Audi Cobra TT!

:D OK I see we have some excellent automotive "stylists" in the group!

The stripe is a big factor. The nose opening, all though missing the mark, ties it to the original design.

Don't insult our replicas like that :3DSMILE:

I personally don't see much connection at all between the two.....

clayfoushee 01-05-2004 12:03 PM

New "T-Bird" is to original, as new "Cobra" is to original body style.....yawn!

There's a good reason why the "original" AC/Shelby Cobra look is so enduring and popular, and why so many replica manufacturers are in business. The new concept doesn't have it.

Bought one of the first of those new T-Birds, didn't like it, and took a huge bath, because no one else did either. Not going to make that mistake again.

You can see the way the rear fenders meets the doors to the front are about the same. The top line running down the car. Looking from an angle from the rear to the front you can see this.

Is it me or do the two lines going down the front hood look like luggage straps?

They need to lose the Audi look, round the bottom front and rear fenders and get rid of the box lookinglines running down the front hood.

No side pipes?

Unforgivable...

mr bruce 01-05-2004 02:20 PM

It's an FIA. Hood scoop, rear fenders, small"mouth" opening(flat across the bottom), small front oil cooler nacel, six spoke wheels. Is that the AL Cobra you guys built for Ford in the publicity photos of the new one?(if so, you guys keep a preety god secret).

Same o Same o

The contours of the original 427 car is like the form of a shapely woman........ Timeless and perfect, and a function for everything. This is just more of the same (T-Bird, Mustang, GT) J Mays (notice no period after J):D retro.

Doesn't Ford have any stylists willing to break new ground? How about BMW's Chris Bangle?

Well, on second thought, Mays ain't so bad........:o

Yours in "where's Larry Shinoda when you need him?" ....

427sharpe 01-05-2004 04:36 PM

Shinoda's dead.
A lot of discussion over sidepipes...can you imagine how much $ Ford would be out on a 'snakebite' if some old lady can get McDonald's for $1m plus for a cup of hot coffee??????

Bud Man 01-05-2004 05:15 PM

Shinodas dead???

Well, okay...

"Where's HARLEY EARL when you need him?"

Puhleeezzzz...............

Heat shields

Not sure if Ford owes a duty to have an exhaust hidden? A kid can run up and touch an exhaust and would Ford be liable because some snot nosed rug rat grabbed or touched your exhaust in the back of your F-150 ect?

It is pretty open and obvious to an adult.
