About 14 K for a complete setup. Special harness, ECM, Tranny, and related parts including custom headers, radiator, etc.
The first confirmed Hemi powered Cobra was built by a gentlemen called "Wing King", now of Viper fame, in the early 70's. If I remember right it was written up in "Auto Week" at the time. Quite the story. DV...spread the frame-lower the motor, we "think" it will fit! ;) But,...the Gen. III Viper motor is still faster AND lighter! |

I think Bob is looking at the new 5.7L Hemi. However I think the "original" Hemi elephant motor would be the way to go, and more "period correct". No EFI and auto trans with sequential shifter stuff! Like DV said, if you're going contemporary Mopar power, why not the Viper motor....it's only $$$$. :3DSMILE: |
you might want to read some actual facts (not just marketing based on a whole 'nother engine) before going mope.
Ford vs sorta-Hemi |
Ummm...one guy saying he smoked a Dodge with a Hemi in a street race of 1-ton trucks is "actual facts" ????
|
PSB,
I was wondering the same thing. Dan |

I did try to find more facts, but the sad fact is, most worthy engines today are in 2.5 ton trucks. Motortrend has a comparison article of the 5300 lb Silverado vs the new 4800 lb Hemi truck. The Silverado, acceleration-wise, wins. Motortrend, knowing who really pays its bills and that one of them has a brand new truck to introduce gives the new mope props for interior etc.... but it still loses the race :) Hey, don't shoot the messenger. I read a lot. Don't always remember where I read it, this time I did and was able to link back to it. Waiting for your facts :) |
Sizzler - go take a valium pal.
I think a Dodge 5.7L Hemi would be a cool engine to put in a Cobra, as it has good power, over-head cams, EFI, and a 5-speed automatic, and would be quite unique. I have no idea where you got the idea that this thread was a Dodge vs Chevy/Ford/whoever pissing contest  |
Is this what it would look like???

Holy thread revival batman! From 04? Just start a thread on your car QTRCOBRA. I'm sure most of us would like to hear about it even with the drivetrain heresy.
