I don't know man. I mean YEAH some originals came with an auto AND a clock, so it's OK.

,,,,, but NOT my cup of tea, not by a long shot!

But it's OK if I put air conditioning in, isn't it? And, well, I do like a little more room, so a longer wheel base is all right, yeah? Oh the tangled web we weave. :D

I do admire those folks that strive for excellence in accuracy! SOMEONE needs to keep the faith!

I have an auto in my car, and until someone sets up a money-raising venture that allows me to afford the $5,500 G-Force 5sp to replace my 'glide, it's staying in place.

The one downside to the auto is that the convertor doesn't allow quite the same precision as far as balancing a car on the throttle through corners, but it does make managing higher power levels much easier overall.

My shifter at least looks close to a stick shift...

I have a friend with a ERA w/ 427 SO and AUTO TRANS. He also has one good leg and one prosthetic leg, hence inability to work a clutch safely..... his beefed up auto trans will outrun a similarly powered stick shift car ! some folks want the ease of driving a auto trans, some have a need for one. just a thought. bill.

CS actually sold several AUTOMATIC equipped Cobras back in the CSX2000 & CSX3000 series "originals". Used the same floor mounted automatic shifter assembly that a Falcon/Mustang was using. As Bill Wells has already pointed out, some people cannot drive a stick shift for one reason or another............Should they not be allowed to own their dream car because of this????? I am simply amazed at the lack of common sense by some of you, along with the "Snob factor" that you have shown in your post (you know who you are) above......................

Bill - a couple of posts already mentioned that Cobras were available with an auto. I thought the posts above were all pretty casual and off-hand, a long way from being devoid of common sense and snobbish.

But then again, I put an auto in a Cobra, so what do I know ;)

Unless the speedo is the wrong way round (and I havn't seen any including a british one that runs that way  ) Its doing about 200mph at 1200rpm with no one driving and no wind!! :3DSMILE:

Better pull over does not show any oil pressure!!!!

mrmustang 01-28-2004 05:38 AM

It's called a 180mph reverse rotation speedometer(similar to this one).

As used in the original 427SC Cobra that so many are trying to replicate in one way shape or form.

Guess I'm reading too far in to the original post than.

UPDATE: I'd like to sincerely apologize for this post! It was the automatic shifter that I was referring to as being "wrong with this picture". But it's not really wrong, of course—and the interior really looks superb! Lots of reasons for having an automatic--whether it be for necessity OR preference! This post was just one of those spur-of-the-moment things that should have been thought through a bit more--I truly didn't intend to cause anyone pain or grief. If I did, please accept my sincere apology. You see, (here's my excuse) dad used to jokingly scoff at the notion of putting an automatic in a sports car because of mom's lack of interest in racing.

*Thanks mrmustang, by the way, because if it wasn't for your comment, albeit course and loud, I wouldn't have realized that anyone could have been so sensitive and taken what I wrote to heart. You're right, mrmustang, as I suspect you always are.
