Thumbs down What's wrong with this picture?!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!

...that sure looks like the automatic shifter mom had in her Pinto...I wonder what's under the hood!!!

UPDATE: I'd like to sincerely apologize for this post! It was the automatic shifter that I was referring to as being "wrong with this picture". But it's not really wrong, of course—and the interior really looks superb! Lots of reasons for having an automatic--whether it be for necessity OR preference! This post was just one of those spur-of-the-moment things that should have been thought through a bit more--I truly didn't intend to cause anyone pain or grief. If I did, please accept my sincere apology. You see, (here's my excuse) dad used to jokingly scoff at the notion of putting an automatic in a sports car because of mom's lack of interest in racing.

*Thanks mrmustang, by the way, because if it wasn't for your comment, albeit course and loud, I wouldn't have realized that anyone could have been so sensitive and taken what I wrote to heart. You're right, mrmustang, as I suspect you always are.

I'm not sure. What?

It looks to have more room in the cockpit than the new 2005 redesigned Mustang. Clean looking interior. Probably quicker off the line than a manual, and easier to drive to boot. That's wrong?

What I've always wondered though, is here you have a chrome rollbar, racing belts, but no side bars, no cage of any sort really, and probably never a helmet on the driver or passenger. What's wrong with that image?

Are you guys just playing around or what? It's very obvious what is wrong with this photo. Unless this snake has a two speed glider and about 900 hp's it is very obvious what is wrong with this photo.

It looks to me like it might be a little difficult to get your hand off the shift handle after putting it in Park.

I must agree with most of the other folks. I do not see a problem. These cars are built to be what you want them to be. Who says you can not have a auto trans? There is something to be said for not having to shift the car every 5 seconds back and forth in traffic.
Or perhaps like my father, who is in his late 60's and soon to be 70 shifting is not real high on his want list of things to be doing while driving his car. Plus my mother likes to drive around and does not do stick shift well.
The 4.6 supercharged engine with the automatic, computer controlled by the way, will spin the wheels off the line just as easy as a stick car and sometimes there is something to be said for having both hands on the wheel.
So not being much of a purest myself since we build these things in all kinds of different combinations and options I see nothing wrong with having the car you want and enjoy.

You cannot tell me that the interior we did in my fathers car, our demo car, looks bad due to a shifter!

I have a top loader in my Cobra and to tell the truth, I am considering replacing it with an automatic. Where I live, there are stop signs at just about every corner so it is 1st, 2nd, maybe 3rd, then back down to 1st at which point the cycle repeats itself. I am beginning to get tired of constantly shifting gears.

I guess that I will either have to move or change the tranny.

Lightbulb whats wrong

Perhaps the fact that no self respecting state inspection station will ok a vehicle for street use or put an inspection sticker on a vehicle without an emergency brake. I dont see an e-brake handle and unless there is room in the footwell for a foot operated e-brake, there isnt one.

Having an auto trans does not make a Cobra kit any less of a replica of an original.

I put an auto in my old LAE when I found that there were six 427 and thirty 289 original cars that came with automatics.

The last two cars Shelby made, the ones with the dual Paxtons, were equiped with an automatic to be able to control all that power in spirited starts.

It was noted that the manual in these cars made them impossible to get off the line in a hurry.

Default I know that Cobra

It is a rental, the owner has several and has found that they get less abuse with the auto trans, it has a 5.0 for power.

Well folks,

I know that an autobox puts folks off.

But jus ask Mr.Schumacher whether he likes auto or manual shifting in his current F1 car.

Auto shifting was worth an average of .5 seconds a lap.
