Talking Factory Five Owners

Factory Five owners - Has everyone that has purchased one of these cars been happy with everything involved with it? Purchase, completeness of the kit, etc.
I am torn between Factory Five, and B&B Manufacuring. Any input will be great.

Chip,

I'm on #5 right now, in fact, it's sold as of Saturday morning around 7-7:30am......Fun to build, fun to drive, fun to take out on the road course (when set up properly)...........Going up to FFR Saturday morning to pick up a friends kit, never know what else might find it's way in to my trailer ....

Bill S.

PS: Now, I've also had an ERA and a Contemporary Cobra...Ask about those if your budget allows.............

Thanks for the input Bill. I have about 8 years in sheet metal experience, so I think I would be better putting together a Factory Five, using aluminum panels than I would another using fiberglass...

I'm on number two.
The first one was there first generation Cobra. Went together as advertised. Had it on the road in 90 days (in primer). Still drives like a dream three years later.
Number two is there Daytona Coupe. It's in the go-cart stage at the moment.
Can't wait till the supercar comes out.

I have had my FFR since '99. It has done everything I'd ever hoped for and more. It is one sturdy frame and the proven Mustang suspension mounted to the lighter chassis makes for an extremely durable 4yr. history of reliable performance. If the body is cured and done right as it is being built you will have long term pride in it's appearance. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Jam - Have you ever had any problems with the trunk hinges?

Outlaw - you will have to give me directions on how to get to your place. I'd like to come down and see your "project"

Chip_127,
I believe I've seen a link to someone who sells an alternate "hiden hinge" setup for the trunk and hood on ffcobra.com. If I were to build one, I'd definately go that route.

I have had my FFR for 3 years now and had to replace on hinge pin. The pin worked itself loose. That was about 2 years ago.
No problem since.

I've had hidden hinges on mine since I built it. No problems and I don't like the external ones anyway. Like the car, like the build, like to drive and am ready to do somemore! www.weendoggy.com/cobra.htm

First time I ever built something like this. Kit was pretty much as advertised, very complete, manual fairly good but www.ffcobra.com is your best buddy during the build and for research.

Few people use the donor gauge set and all most everyone spends a bunch of money on better trim pieces, chrome plating upgrades and tires and wheels.

The finished product is great, but as with anything one builds, the result depends on the care taken by the builder. Almost no one does the body prep and paint themselves. I spend $3,000 on this and it was well worth the money.

I am totally satisfied with my Factory Five and have now driven it about $13,000 miles this year since completion. My total cost was $26,000, this was a fairly basic build with a top, tonneau cover, bumpers and lots of trim upgrades from various vendors.
